Jesse's POV

I lay on my bed looking at my ceiling. I still couldn't forget about the mysterious shadow that lingered over my body as i tried to save Emiko. Whatever it was, it better stay away from my Jaden or else. I looked over to my clock and noticed that actually, I should leave before I'm late for school. It's been little over a week since the incident at the mall now and life didn't seem to return to normal just yet.

When I entered the homeroom, Jaden and Emiko sat at the back of the class, neither talking to the other. Jaden was sat looking through his deck while Emiko was reading a magazine. I took my seat in front of Emiko and looked up to the board. There were two names on the board, David Rabb and Reggie Mackenzie. Strange, perhaps they are transfer students.

Syrus came walking over to my desk, smiles and all. "Hey Jess," He greeted.

"Morning Sy," I greeted back, both of us taking our seats.

"Did you hear about the duel tournament coming up?" Syrus was full of energy, excited over the fact he could have the chance to duel. "It's going to be on this weekend, the final stage is this school. Apparently Kaiba Corp wants to make a big event."

"Seriously?" I was shocked that it was going to happen so soon. However, I want to show what kind of duellist I can be to Jaden. I turned to see Jaden still not looking up from his deck, all though i could see from Kuriboh that Jaden knew what we was talking about. "I'll be in for sure."

"Me too," Syrus chimed.

We all went quiet as we saw our teacher, Ms Hibiki walk into the class room with two unfamiliar students.  "Class simmer down," Ms Hibiki commanded. the whole class must not have even moved, too scared to make a sound. "This is David Rabb and Reggie Mackenzie. They will be joining us to the rest of the school year. Please make your way to your seats." I felt them both stare at me and Jaden as they sat down. It felt like that shadow was back. Just who are these people. "To continue our homeroom. After today, classes are suspended until further notice for those wishing to participate in the duel tournament."

Everyone just screamed "What" in surprise.

"It's standard," came Emiko's voice in the background. "Ever since the heir of Kaiba Corp entered this school, the tournment is a tradition. My older brother participated and so will I."

The smirk on Emiko's face scared me. She just made a declaration of war! Thinking about it, I have never seen her duel and now I was worried the day that I have to face her.  "I'll be winning Emiko," Jaden finally piped up putting his deck down. The two stared at each other and gave a high five. I never saw this fire in Jaden before. It's an aurora he never let off before. "Jess, we maybe dating but I will take you down to get to the top."

Okay, now I am petrified. The two of them were so fired up that you could see there was no stopping them. "May we participate as well?" Came I believe Reggie's voice.

Ms Hibiki nodded as she turned to the board. She erased the names and began to write a schedule. "For those wanted to participate please report to the principle in these allotted times," she began and turned back to us. "Your grades and duelling skills are considered before you are allowed to enter."

"Your grades!" Jaden screamed loudly making us all drop our heads. "Of course, the boy nick named drop out will be the one most fired up but also the one most likely to not be able to enter.

"Better start sweet talking the teacher huh babe?" I laughed nervously and all i earned was a death stare in response.

I looked to see the transfer students looking at each other with evil smiles. David, had a look of determination and evil mixed in his eyes and kept it on me. Just what is this tournament for but you could tell that life is not going to be normal for a while.
