The Deciding Turn

Zane's POV

I watched carefully as Emiko made her next move. She seemed to be concentrating hard as the crowd cheered. It kind of hurt me seeing her like this, a non-cheerful girl. I told her that we knew about the incident 8 years ago and that she was Emi Motou's daughter and her attitude just turned sour. "Hey Truesdale you taking your turn?" She snapped.

I shuck my head and began my turn. "Why you being this way? It's not you!" I exclaimed earning a death glare.

"You know who I am now," Emiko's expression looked as if she was going to cry. "You and everyone else will treat me differently! Youll treat me nicely because I'm Emi Mouto's daughter! That's not who I am!"
I was shocked. She honestly thought we would all treat her differently because of her parents. "Ever since I was a kid everyone treated me special because of my parents and no one respected Emiko the person. Kids didn't even want to duel me, I was so alone." 

"I summon Cyber Dragon in attack mode," I declared. I didn't want to look her in the eye right now. "Don't think that we'll treat you different. You are Emiko to us and we care about you. Not everyone is the same."

Not matter what I had to make her realise she can trust us. Although I must say it will be challenging through this duel. She is strong. Her combos from what I've seen focus on surprising the opponent and making sure she can finish her opponent in one swing.

As the duel progressed we each seem to have perfect come backs for the others move. It was her turn and she had a fusion monster of Buster Blader out. It was her turn to attack and unfortunately her combo made her monster stronger then my Cyber end. "Sorry Zane," she sighed. "At least this way I can get over you. Buster Blader attack Cyber end and finish this duel once and for all!"

"Reverse card open, Battle Fusion. Now we both take damage equal to the combine attack powers of our monsters."

"A tie?"

"Wrong. I activate my second card, which means for this one turn I take no damage from card effects. Game over Emiko."

I watched as Emiko fell to her knees covering her face. I could hear her sob as I approached her, "can you look at me please?" She simply shuck her head. "Please. Miss drama queen. Or should I say princess?"

"Don't call me that!" She yelled standing up to face me. "I hate that name!"

"You know I'm teasing right?" I raised an eyebrow and crossed my arms. "You know like how I always do?"

"Just shut u-" I stoped her talking and embraced her.

"We won't treat you differently," I whispered. "Because the Emiko I know does anything for her friends. The Emiko I care about is the one who looked after my little brother and helps him study. She gives up her free time to cook for others and most of all... "

I couldn't bring myself to say the last part so I merely smiled at her. "Well..." she pouted as she wiped her tears away.

"You're you," he laughed.

Suddenly Jaden jumped onto her shoulders and Alexis came over and grabbed her hands. "Emiko," Jaden cheered. "You were awesome!"

"You really were great," Alexis beamed. "I've never seen such awesome duelling."

"Hey what about me?" Atticus moaned.

"You knocked me out the tournament so you get no praise," Alexis laughed.

Jesse walked up to punching me in the arm. "You better win this now," he grinned. "As much as I want Jaden to win, you did beat me after all."

"Don't worry," I smirked. "I don't plan on losing. But in the meantime, where's Reggie?"

"No idea," Jesse sighed. "But why not let everyone have fun for now?"

"Yeah. You're righ-"

I wasn't able to finish my sentence as the familiar sensation of the ground shaking came. We were ordered to get down and cover our heads. Jesse tried to run for Jaden put I stopped him and pulled him down with me. "He'll be fine!" I screamed at him.

He gritted his teeth and proceed to cover his head. Damnit, this had to be Reggie's doing. After a few
Minutes everything seemed to settle down. Looking around some debris fell from the ceiling and some students had gotten hurt.

"Jaden!"

We looked and saw Jaden losing face down with blood spilling from his head. Jesse ran over to him but just stopped as he didn't know what to do. Ms Hibiki was straight to his side as well.

My chest started to hurt and Panic washed over me. Whatever happened 8 years ago, was repeating itself now.
