I stretch my arms as I open my eyes, letting out a small yawn. As I get out of bed, I note that the alarm clock shows that it's 9:13 am.
"What should I wear..." I question under my breath as I go through my closet. I decide on my forest green lacey tank top & some old loose jeans. After brushing through my dyed black hair & put it up in a ponytail, I put on my make up & deoderant.
"Good morning sunshine," My dad greets me as I join him & Mom in the kitchen. His brown hair is gelled back, & he's in a grey suit, making me realize he's about to go to work. My mom, on the other hand, is just in a black halter top & grey yoga pants so she must be about to work out.
"Hey, what kept you at work so late?" I ask him, generally curious. All I know is that he works in some boring office, but I can't help but wonder what he actually does.
"Oh, someone didn't show for work so I had to put more on my shoulders." His smile falters as he explains.
"Ohh...that sucks. So what's for breakfast?" I ask, turning my attention & smiling warmly towards my amazing mother. She grins, knowing that I love her cooking.
"Bacon & eggs," Mom answers as she puts the plate in front of me. I beam down at the smiley face, loving how my mom can make such a cliche idea taste so delicious.
"Hey girl ya ready to go boy stalking?" Catherine asks as she gets in my car's passenger seat. I'm currently parked in front of her big house, admiring it's features. It's painted a beautiful shade of dark blue, although the shutters on the windows are white.
"You know it!" I giggle, readjusting my ponytail before starting the car. She turns on the radio & starts singing along to "Part Of Me" by Katy Perry. I join in too, & we look like complete wacko's at the stop light we have just pulled up to. By the time we're at the mall we're totally energetic, & ready to put all that energy into good shopping use.
"Shop til you drop?" I ask as we walk inside the large building.
"Shop til you drop!" She says happily.
We go to Claire's & then JC Penny's before we decide to take a well deserved lunch break at the food court.
"I'll have a hot dog."
"& i'll take a slice of cheese pizza," Catherine adds. The guy at the cashier smiles as he takes our cash & gives us our food in return.
I find myself staring at a guy at the other end of the food court as I sit down across from my best friend, who quickly notices.
"Hey look your boyfriend," Catherine teases.
"Jack is just a friend," I explain, blushing as I continue staring.
"JACK!!" She shouts, making my eyes bulge.
"What are you doing!" I whisper shouted, noticing Jack smiling in our direction through the corner of my eye.
"Getting your man over here where he belongs," she whispers back, grinning as she winks at me.
"Hey," he greets us as he walks over to our table.
"Hi Jack," I say sheepishly, smiling in return.
"Hello," Catherine chipped in.
"Hey ladies," Jack's friend speaks up as he walks over beside Jack. He is kinda cute himself, having spikey blonde hair, pretty blue eyes, & some frecles scattered across his nose. He sits by Catherine as Jack sits by me.
"I'm Danny," he says looking at us
"I'm Catherine & this is my friend Emma." I try not to grin, seeing the way Catherine is looking at Danny. She so likes him.
"Well it's my honor to meet you Catherine," he says. "..and Emma." Oh he so likes her.
"So is that a new tank top?" Jack turns to me, a small grin on his face.
"Yeah, just got it a couple of days ago."
"Looks good on you." I blush & say thank you.
We end up hanging out with Jack & Danny the rest of the afternoon at the mall.
"You like Danny you like Danny," I tease Catherine when we get back in the car.
"What? Nah. He's a really nice guy."
"Reaaallly nice."
"Shut up." We both giggle.
"Did you get his number?" I ask. She frowns & shakes her head sadly. "I could always ask Jack for you."
"Nah I dont wanna be pushy or whatever. Hopefully we'll cross paths again some day. If it's meant to be."
"I've seen him in school before," I laugh. "Y'all are bound to meet again sometime." We make it to her house where we decide to watch Dear John. This movie gets me every time.
I finally get home by 8 where I see an unexpected surprize awaiting me.
"Dad You're home on time! That's rare for saturdays." He just laughed merrily.
"Yes it's certainly a nice surprize, isn't it."
We all eat dinner together happily at the table before I go get ready for bed.
"Ah!" I scream the next morning, seeing Catherine up in my face. She busts out laughing at my reaction, earning a grunt from me as I sit up on my elbows.
"Your mom let me in," she explains.
"I see!" She continued to laugh as I sulked, rolling my eyes at her childishness.
"I came to see if you wanted to take a bike ride with me & Luke," she explains. I nod as I climb out of bed. Every once in a while Catherine, her brother Luke, & I all go riding our bikes together, seeing as their parents are totally into fitness & health. None of us mind, seeing as we aways have fun together.
"Hey Luke," I say as I walk outside my front door to see Catherine's bro by their bikes.
"Hey Emma," he smiles. Luke is just a year older than us, & is pretty hot. He has brown hair that's a perfect kinda messy that only some people can pull off. His blue eyes always sparkle, & whenever I see him he has a smile on his face. I even told Catherine a few years ago, I would totally go out with her brother. She wasn't bothered by it, she thought it'd be cool if we became in laws.
I put on my helmet as Catherine walks out, & before I know it we're off. We soon get to a trail in some woods that leads to a park. As usual, Luke & I are a head a little bit. I think Catherine stays behind on purpose to give me some alone time with Luke. Whatever, I'm not one to complain.
"Emma look," he says as he stops his bike suddenly. I stop to see where he's pointing. A couple of deer eating grass.
"Aww," I whisper. "How cute."
"Hey why'd we stop?" Catherine asks as she stops her bike next to mine. I point to the deer, watching as she finally sees. "Ohhh," she mouths. We stand there watching for a few minutes. I look over to see Luke taking pictures on his cell phone, a happy expression on his face.
We start going again, til we get to a bench in the park to sit.
"Hey Catherine did mom say what we're having for dinner?" Luke asks, sitting down beside me.
"She has a coworker coming over so she's ordering in," she explains as she grabs a water bottle from her bag before she sits down on the other side of her brother.
"Oh well then, Emma you should come over. You get rare opportunities of Mom not cooking. Chance of a lifetime," he explains, sendng me a grin.
"Sure," I laugh. "I'll be there." Both siblings smile at me.
