Hailey's POV:
I kept waiting for Charlotte and her cousin Hannah in front of our house. They should have been here already 10 minutes ago, and I started get stressed because I hated to be late. It was so awkward to enter in the room, where everyones heads would turn over me and they would look me judging.
Soon I saw a familiar red Mercedes driving over me. "Hi... well you look damn fine today. Is that even legal since you have already boyfriend?" Charlotte looked at me shocked when I stepped in her brother's car which she had got a permission to borrow for this night.
I just giggled and told her to drive. "I don't want to be the last again" I mumbled to her before I put my seatbelt on and grabbed my phone from my purse.
However something else came to my hand too and it was one of those envelopes which I had been receiving last three days. How it had lost in here? Maybe mom had put it here and thought that I need it.
I just hoped that she hasn't read them because they were one of those things which I didn't want my mom know. It's was too personal, even I didn't still know the reason for those letters.
That person had sent me every day one or two photos and a little letter with them. There was always my name over it and a small heart sticker other side.
On Thursday there was picture of me in the swing smiling and other where I was sitting in the sand a rose bouquet on my lap.
"Don't you see, how big I could make you smile on those days" was the text which I got with those shors.
On Friday, there was a picture from the beach and sand, where someone had drew a big heart.
"This one may get washed off by ocean but my heart will always keep beating for you"
Today I found a small red rose from the mail box and a little card: "This is your favorite, right?" It was true.
I looked around but didn't see anyone around who would have sent this me. Someone may have called already the police because of that but I didn't because only things I found from those letters was yearning and want to make me remember things which I had forgotten.
I didn't see anything bad from that, even I couldn't still bring these with me back to our house. These letters may look innocent for me but someone else they may be a good reason to start doubt my actions, especially for Marcus. I didn't want hazard our relationship because of that.
I just wished that I could know the person who kept sending me them, so we could talk things over. I tried think back all people who with I had been, and who could be potential ones to this job but everyone I remember, were already happily in the relationship.
That kind of acting would make good, so I started already doubt that this may be some kind of joke. However, those pictures tried tell me something and that they felt like real.
I needed still time to figure out this case, it couldn't close today yet because I had something better to do, to meet my old school friends, and hear how glamorous life they were living nowadays. Maybe I should make some good lie to tell.
When they would ask how I have been doing, I could answer first that great which is actually true but then I would start tell how I was with a rich man, who would fill my all needs. I would make everyone so envy over me.
But I wasn't like that, at all so it would ever happen. I would stay away from people myself. If they come talk to me, I'd do it but that's it. I wouldn't try wake up old memories because I wanted just forget that time forever.
-
Charlotte parked her brother car's next to the smaller car, so it would make it look worse next to us. Just like she always did, I wasn't like her at all but that was maybe why we were so good friends to each others. We filled each others. She made me more confidence by her comments, for example how bad I was acting around people or that I should get my shit together and have fun.
Someone would have taken those kind of comments as insult but for me they were like a magic words which made me like a new person. I wasn't one of those shy ones when I was around her.
We greeted Jordan, the boy who had organized this party to us with some other people. "Welcome, girls!" he said and smiled. "And Hailey, it's really nice to see you. I didn't expect you would come" he looked me from head to toes and back.
Charlotte touched my back. It was a sign that I should hit him back somehow now. "Yeah, whatever Jordan" I rolled my eyes. "I didn't come here because of you, fyi. I came here because I wanted it myself" I turned my back to him and we started walk away with girls.
"Good job, girl" Charlotte grinned when we had got enough far from him. I smirked back and felt kind of proud myself. "He deserved it" Hannah added and hand me a drink from the table.
"Yeah, he did. Damn, what a good feeling" I giggled and made those two girls around me smile too. "For a great night, not for losers like that boy over there" Charlotte nodded over Jordan who kept still standing on the door and waiting rest of our classmates. After that she raised her glass, and we followed her action.
