General Hague glared at the human females in a row in front of him. He had disagreed with the King about this absurd project and insisted he find a vampire as his beloved. It was a thought he shared with many others especially the council. Their human excitement didn't surprise him. These humans turned doe eyed at the things that just about surpassed their intricate design. But Hague had seen it all. He'd lived even longer than the King and some on the council. And in the later years of his life the King had become a constant, he would even refer to him as brother. He would kill and die for him and even stand by him when he made human decisions such as this. It was for those reasons and that alone that he stopped glaring at the women. He smirked slightly when he notice a red headed female analyzing her competitors just as he had been doing. He saw determination glow in her green irises and something else that his years of knowledge and living had recognized in warriors.
Elise snuck glances at each woman lined up beside her. She had a feeling they didn't know what they'd signed their selves up for.
"Hey girl, you excited?"
Elise turned to look at a brown skinned girl beside her and tried to match the girls giddy attitude but decided if she was going to do this, she had to be herself.
"No not really." She shrugged and noticed the girls slight frown. "I'm Elise Dumont and you are?"
"Linette Facey." She paused and opened her mouth like a pucker fish as though she really wanted to say something. Elise found it quite amusing. she realized to another being, her lack of excitement was unheard of. "I'm sorry I'm a bit confused...you said you're not excited?"
She saw a blonde girl lean in closer to their conversation "you're one of those ones. You might as well leave now. let's be real, you don't really think you have a chance darling."
The way she stressed 'darling' had Elise automatically disliking the blond bombshell.
"I'd worry about yourself, darling, did your father pay his way into getting you accepted? I dont really think the King likes Bimbos with daddy's credit card." Elise turned around in a silent dismissal and focused on general Hague. She hadn't missed his slight frown and watchful gaze he sported even now. Elise wondered what the old vamp was thinking but she'd have to figure that out later because the man himself cleared his throat and silence greeted the room.
"Welcome to Ashroft Mansion. You beautiful women are competing to Win the Kings heart and the desired position as his beloved." General Hague inwardly rolling his eyes as the women Unsuccessfully tired to suppress their excitement. "You will spend one month here and on the last day, the King will great you and announce his Queen." he paused and let the women seep in this peice of information. His eyes landed on the red headed female and as their gazes locked, he saw a slight defiance. She was one to watch out for. "Before you came, your rooms were decided for you. Luckily for you ladies, the daunting tasks ahead do not begin until Monday in three days time. Use those three days to make friends, learn your way around the manor and get acquainted with the rest of the vampiric residents." The red head Didn't know but the last suggestion was aimed directly at her. He was looking forward to learning about her. "Any questions?"
There was a pause before two arms shot up. He arched his brow in Wonder and for the first time, noticed the brunette three women down from the red head. He picked her first. "What's your name?"
"Blaire Thorne. In those three days will the King grant us with his presence or must we wait? What exactly are you aiming for? Some air of mystery to keep us girls excited." Her gaze darkened and she held her head up high.
Both the general and Elise was fascinated by this woman. Elise made a mental note to watch her, she'd either be a friend or foe. The general was briefly shocked at the females outburst but composed himself quickly.
"An air of mystery. Interesting." he chuckled softly. "The king will greet you when he chooses. Not just anyone can be in his presence. This competition is not for fans to bask in the lime light. He desires a Queen, a companion to help rule. A task I assure you you won't be prepared for. Worry about that than when u meet the king. That answer your question?"
Blair smirked and nodded her head. The general turned to the red head and gestured for her to speak.
"Name's Elise. I have to say, this is all extravagant an all but could you explain the feeding arrangements where would you be eating? With us or else where?"
The general smirked. "What would you suggest?"
"As far away from me as possible?"
"we will be eating with you but we do have our pets eating with us as well. Does that satisfy you Elise?"
"Not what I would have liked but Satisfactory nonetheless."
General Hague nodded and dismissed the girls. Vampires suddenly appeared, probably the rest of the coven and ushered the girls into a room next door.
Elise had been as flustered as the girls and right now she was wishing Chasity was with her yo whispers some sort of encouraging words about these people she loved so much. She had always never believed the bullshit but her voice was all she needed.
The group of girls, Elise had counted there to be 20 girls stood in a half moon snap staring at General Hague.
"Now I may have welcomed you ladies here but soon I will have to say good bye because the first challenge starts now."
Elise was hardly ever surprised but this surprised her as well as irritated her. The journey to get here hadn't exactly been the most pleasnt one and right now, she was in need of a bed than a stupid challenge.
"You will each step up before Myself, Derek and Alexander and introduce yourself and why you should be made Queen."
Elise shrugged. It seemed easy enough but knowing these creatures, there was always a twist and Elise found herself to be Right. Hague and the other two men were serious and before she knew it, Elise had watched 5 girls leave leave, head hung in shame. She had honestly not been listening, paying more attention to the intricate designs in the walls of the hall room the were in and admiring a portrait of a woman. She looked content in a red wispy dress, her dark hair hung loose in its curly glory framing her heart shaped face. The woman's eyes looking straight into Elise's soul and sucked her in.
She couldnt even hear Hague calling her name until Linette, the girl she'd met earlier elbowed her side softly.
"Sorry, I got side tracked. what was the question?
Hague sighed "the same question 15 other girls have been answering before you."
Elise mentally slapped herself for asking something so stupid before she stepped forward taking in the men as she introduced herself. "My name is Elise Marianna Dumont. I'd tell you my occupation but then i'd probably have to kill you. As for why I'm hear, I can't really answer that. Winning the kings heart isn't exactly number one on my list."
Derek Smirked "so what makes you think we should keep you here."
Elise laughed softly. "Because I want to be here. My reason my not be the same as everyone else's. Why should it? their's are so cliche isn't it?"
"You don't seem much of a competition to these women." Alexander stated and Elise sighed wishing her turn would be over. She didn't care for this talk. "I've said what I've said. Take it as you wish."
The men nodded each satisfied with her answer and moved on. By the end if it all, elise had remained much to everyone else's surprise but not hers. One thing she'd learnt in her short time as a journalists was these vampires never liked simple. they enjoyed a game more than anyone else and Elise had just given them a game. What Elise didn't know was Hague chose her for a different reason entirely and was excited to see how she'd progress further in her stay at the manor.

Well...there's already some tension between the girls and Elise's attitude is really not improving😅
*sigh*
