Elise squirmed in her seat as Vincent's eyes rested on her. The over grown giant was making the tiny hairs on her back stand up and it erked her. She released a breath she didnt know she was holding when he finally settled his eyes on the remainder of the congregation.

"As you are all aware, an unfortunate event occurred this evening and rest assured, we will try to rectify this and find the murderer who will suffer as a consequence." Elise shuddered almost feeling the coldness that seeped from the king at this point. "As for the competition, we have decided to continue on with it."

Gasps lit the table and questioning glances danced around each individual.

"You would keep us here where one of us has been murdered? Do you not see the ridiculousness of it all?" Elise asked atonished.

The king's eyes settled on her once more, shocked that she'd spoken to him that way but he hid it before anyone saw.

"Well Miss Dumont I wasn't finished but you, little one, let your mouth get carried away." He didn't show it but Elise could see his eyes practically shining with triump. She did let her mouth run away before she thought, she knew it was her flaw but it was her flaw to pick out not the bloody know it all bastard, she thought. "If anyone is willling to walk away from such a huge opportunity to be my Queen then by all means be my guest. However, the second you step out of that door, you will be forgotten, you won't be allowed a second chance and life as you knew it goes back to normal."

He pause, a strategic action to let his words sink in, he always thought thought humans were a bit slow.

"Those who would like to leave, this includes the pets, please stand up."

Elise waited. Nervous glances scattered the room. By the end of it all, only one girl had stood up and she was a pet Elise hadn't had the chance of meeting but by the looks of it, the female, Grace, was close to her friend Chasity who gave her an understanding looking before she hugged the girl good bye. The king had announced that the ball was still to go ahead before he nodded his head and dismissed everyone with a warning to stay in their room and informed everyone that there would be an increase of Guards and more safety measures.

Though everyone one was sent to the room, Elise couldn't shake the feeling that now was the best time to get some more information for her story.

Elise had been taking turns in the manor to the extent she didn't know exactly where she was anymore or how she'd get back to her room. She'd even pass the same corridor with the blood red walls about twice. She huffed in annoyance and looked about her surroundings when she noticed a door she hadn't seen before.

It was a simple brown door at the end of a narrow white washed corridor. Elise gently turned the knob. When the door didn't shift, she got more persistent. It later occurred to her that there must be something to hide behind the closed door and it spiked her curiosity. She felt a little spark of hope. Perhaps she was right that there were secrets king Ashcroft wanted behind closed doors, literally.

"Are you lost?"

Elise turned to face Vincent, a prey to his predatory nature, caught in his trap and now his once honey eyes now red tried to lure her in.

"Would you accept that I couldn't find the toilet?" Elise shrugged sarcastically.

The king stepped forward and trapped Elise between the door and his large Musclar frame. He leant down toward Elise who he largely towered above.

"You shouldn't put your nose where it doesn't concern you, little one."

There is was again, the little statement that highlighted his majesty's authority and status. Elise had never been the one to bow down. Her mother even had trouble reminding the girl who was boss when Elise would get scolded for telling a teacher off.
