Elise waited in Vincents office for two seconds before she asked herself what she was doing obediently waiting for the king to come like a damsel in distress.
The manor was in chaos. Hague and the Ashcroft coven were trying to limit the chaos.
Hague watched Elise approach. "Why aren't you in his office?"
Elise folded her arms and walked past the general. She didnt have time for arguments. Her mind was set on trying to calm down her friends who were huddled in the corner listening to a wailing Regina. Elise scoffed and rolled her house. This place wasn't where a preppy princess should Be. She barged passed the blond who suddenly forgot about her crocodile tears and captured Linette and Chastity in her arms.
"What they hell is going on? First Faith now-"
"Don't think about that. I don't know.
I dont have answers but we are alright."Blaire tapped Elise on the shoulder "it really should have been you."
"Pardon?" Blaire hadn't said many words to Elise and the first time she did, she was wishing death upon the red head.
Blaire shrugged and smiled before leaving a confused Elise. Linette and Chasity showed no reaction to Blaire that she wondered if she had even heard right.
As precaution, the council were taken home in their luxury limousines and the district leaders left the manor to care for their covens.
The manor had never been so silent. It irked Elise who laid awake in bed. The snoring of Linette who had fallen fast asleep the second her head hit the pillow, bounced around the spacious room. Elise swung her legs off her bed and found herself outside of a room she didnt think she'd ever come willingly again.
Vincent glanced at Elise outside his office wearing a loose shirt that came just above her knees.
"You left my office." He mumbled trailing his eyes up her never ending legs
Elise cleared her throat suddenly feeling rather hot under Vincent's intense lens. "I dont follow your rules." She croaked out
"You never did." He whispered under Hus breath but Elise caught it and it only just added to the list of weird things she'd heard these vampires say.
She pushed passed Vincent and sat in his chair spinning around like a child. She stopped and stared at the amused man I'm the eye.
"I think its time you start explaining."
vincent soured coming to stand infront of Elise. He picker her up and placed her on his thighs. She struggled against Vincent's grip and stilled when it became futile.
"stop pushing me away."
Elise rolled her eyes "we were never close." Elise pushed against his chest "this position is highly inappropriate."
The words came out softer and raspier than she had firstly intended and Vincents reaction had her turning as red as his cusions.
"If you want answers, you drop trying to get a story out of this."
Elise gasped and narrowed her eyes. "Do vampires read mind?"
Vincent chuckled and Elise regretted enjoying the deep rumble in his chest.
"Eleanor may have filled me in."
Elise made a reminder I'm her head to catch the little brat.
"Wasn't like I was really getting anywhere. I got way to comfortable anyway, way too quickly. I'm a crappy journalist anyway."
Vincent stared at Elise. This was always the bit he got wrong when it came to women and feelings. rathwr the say something wrong, he squeezed Elise's waist hoping it was comforting enough.
"I promise I won't tell anyone. Now spill." She felt like a school child but she needed to understand.
Vincent sighed before he explained Everything. He recited what the reincarnations book had said, adding a little more detail that sent Elise's mind racing.
It wasnt an ancestor as Elise had first thought. Vincent had been the man to condemn Lizainna and was bound to Valerie Monet.
He briefly mentioned his dark past. To Elise he was practically the creator of the vampire Race. With the the district leaders either being the first to be bitten or direct descendants.
Vincent had even explained how things were turning. How his mate was able to have Alexander's child. He'd reluctantly admitted to killing killing the child out of rage and anger. At which point Elise had flown into rage and clawing at Vincent to let her go but his strength surpassed hers as he held her down and continued. He'd told her how he always felt a calling, an itch he couldnt get rid of when he came into contact with his mate. He'd told her it was how he felt with her. The need to claim her, keep her safe, love her.
Elise paused.
It was crazy but it made sense. It dawned on her.
"You killed my child." she looked up ay Vincent and stared at the man enraging unsettling feelings of desire in her. "If this was all true, I had to love you, and when I finally had the chance to walk away from you, you killed my only chance on genuine happiness.." She wanted to angry. Maybe it was because it was so late but she felt a swirl of emotions.
"You could have had genuine happiness with me." Vincent said in a clipped tone that sent chills down Elise's spine but it didn't stop her anger clawing in her body for a part of her life she had not remembered.
'You killed my baby.' She muttered half trying to comprehend the revelation and half accusingly at the hard brute.
Vincent squeezed her tighter to him. Fear of her suddenly disappearing consumed him. 'How can you expect me to look at a child that wasn't out of our love-making Elise?'
Elise, surprising to her, clamped her thighs hard at the thought of Vincent and her in rumpled sheets from hours of love making that left her unaware of her surroundings as she was pulled into lust laced slumber. The action didn't go unnoticed by the king who's own show of appreciation at this fine woman's body stood in high attention despite his sadness and her anger. "You were made for me. Not my brother. You were meant to born my child. We were meant to rule together in love and happiness.""But it just didn't happen that way" Elise sighed. She turned to look at Vincent's honey eyes. The man had never seem so human to her and she had never felt this deeply for his race. He stroked her warm cheeks. She was always so warm. Elise wanted to succumb to the familiar touch of her mate. Her eyes closed as she breathed in his musky scent and behind her eye lids was the image of her dead child. Her eyes snapped open and met Vincent's loving gaze. Vincent felt pain burrow through his heart as he watched his beloved's face contort into a look of disgust.
"Val-"
"No this is just crazy. Two people dead. Three if you count my baby. And this dumb competition that I don't even want to win."
"Val-"
"Stop calling me that. That's not my name!" Elise scream barely unable to hold in anger that erupted within her. She would have hit the arrogant king too were it not got general Hague marching into the room uninvited and looking a little disheveled.
"Vincent," he paused flicking his eyes back and forth between the two people. "We need to go over what to tell the press."
Vincent shrugged. His attention at the moment was on the fine red head he so desperately wanted to mate. "Tell then the truth."
Hague slammed the door hard snapping Vincent out of his stupor. "And let the human race begin to fear and shun us once more?"
"Why should we have to accommodate our food supply? Let them fear us. We will always have the upper hand."
Hague looked at his King, fearful that this may be the sight of a leader giving up. "You wanted peace Vincent. Get your f*cking head in the game brother. This isn't the dark ages mon Roi."
Vincent knew this was true and apologies for his childish thoughts. He dismissed Elise who was quite happy to leave and sighed.
One day things will be right
