Linette Facey had grown up in Africa and seen just about most things primitive in nature and these vampires tipped the scale. Though they didn't sport sharp claws or thousands of razor sharp teeth, these vampires' beauty was the most dangerous quality she'd seen. Like honey, it lured them in and Linette was looking like the bee. Linette wasn't a dunce and it took a second conversation to realize that about her. This was perhaps the craziest thing she'd done amongst jumping off cliffs as a hobby, riding zebras, nicking a few things from shops where the lines were too long and tested her patience.
Linette glanced around the room she'd been given and it dawned on her that this was real. She would have a chance to sit by the King and call him her beloved.
Beloved. She'd done some research on the term. A beloved was a vampires mate, and lover. In human terms, it was the wife or a husband except a divorce didnt exist in the vampric world. Once you were joined together, you remain together. The death of one of the beloved would cause much grief and anguish towards the other who would end up deluded or dead. Neither seemed appealing to Linette. But what called to her was the forever aspect. She'd seen her grand parents and their relationship was a goal Linette craved. A love like that would chase away her dark past and replace it with new memories, better memories. In that second, Linette became determined. She'd make friends but everyone was her competitor. She'd be herself and hope the King loved it. She was aiming high, a vampire king! But it was either this or nothing, she deserve the best and it took her some years to realize that.
Linette turned to Elise Dumont. Honestly when she laid eyes on the female, she mistook her for a vampire but the warmth in her tanned skin her face filled with different expressions instead of a stone faced look, she just had to be a beautiful red haired, green eyed human.
Elise was a character, Linette could tell that much. Why she wasn't excited, Linette couldn't tell but she was determined to make her an ally. She walked up to Elise and sat on her bed next to her. "So we're room mates"
Elise pondered the matter of factly statement before she shrugged "I guess we are. I've never had a room mate before. Actually I've only recently aquired a room big enough to share. So this will be new."
she smiled and hoped it was warm."Girl dont worry, I've had plenty. It will be great. We'll share clothes, make up - "
"I don't have make up and my clothes aren't the lastest thing, its what I can get on my salary at the moment."
"Okay scratch sharing you can just borrow mine," Linette got up and walked over to her suitcase "you have to look bomb for dinner. You saw those girls, no one playing about. Neither am I I'll have you know. But I'm a fair person and you're allowed a fair chance."
Elise watched Linette. being a journalist, she was all about getting the best story line and Linette had a story behind those warm honey eyes. Linette turned around holding a short jean skirt and a navy v-neck crop top along with black sandles. "Something showy, little classy and not too much for your first dinner. You're about my size maybe slightly thinner but these should do."
Normally Elise wouldn't accept things especially if it looked like she was accepting charity. But these circumstances were not normal and Elise needed to stay in the competition in order to gain information. She had to be a journalist but she could do it in style.
Elise looked at herself in the mirror and saw curves she'd normally hide behind a cheap suit. Linette had put on the tiniest bit if make up at Elise's request to still look natural then she dressed up in a long red asymmetrical dress that hugged her small body and braided her hair into two French plaits. She'd filled in her eyebrows, a bit of mascara and some lip gloss. after puckering her lips in the mirror for quiet some time to Elise's annoyance, she threw her reflection a little air kiss and hooked her arm around Elise.
The two women strutted down the stairs expectedly the last to arrive as Linette had predicted and hoped for. She was determined to leave a lasting impression on everyone and a late arrival where everyone's eyes looked up from their conversation to the two fed her small ego.
The two noticed the division on the long table. On the left hand side sat the women competing for the King and on the right were the vampires who each had a woman or a man on either side of them. Elise's face twisted into one of disgust until her eyes landed on Chasity who sat obediently on Derek's lap. She didn't know whether she was excited that her best friend was here or angry that her vampiric boyfriend dressed her in a flimsy outfit and sat her down like his own little play toy feeding from her neck. Chasity looked like she was filled with desire than pain and even clutched onto the man bringing him closer to her neck.
He removed his fangs and laped up the excess blood and smiled at her friend. Chastity leaned in and kissed him on the lips before turning around and noticing Elise.
Elise felt Linette tugging her towards the table which she blindly followed.
"Elise!" chasity managed to worm herself out of Derek's grip and round toward her friend whom she embraced in a tight hug. "I had to beg Dee to bring me here. Knowing you, you definitely need pushing into enjoying this experience."
Elise rolled her eyes "I'm surviving fine actually." she felt a tugging on her left and realized Linette must be confused on the status of the black haired woman. "Linette, chastity. Chasity, Linette"
Chasity and Linette sized one another Up before the both broke into a huge smile and hugged each other in greeting. "Nice meeting you." Linette said to which chasity replied "you too."
After a brief conversation, Chastity excused herself after being called back by Derek. General Hague had watched the entire event from the head of the table and decided it was time to introduce his their vampiric residents.
The table turned their heads at the clinging of a glass at the head of the table.
"Welcome"
