RECALL

"I know you're confused, but you can trust me." Gen told him.

Zion walked back slowly to his bed and sat down. "Okay, tell me."

The younger twin sighed as she faced Zion. "First of all, how do you feel? Is your head painful?"

Zion frowned and touched his head. "Just a little bit," he shook his head as though he wanted to get rid of the pain. The baron looked around him once more before directing his eyes towards Genevieve. "What is this place, anyway? And who are you? Do I know you? How come—"

"Look," Gen stopped him before he could ask anymore questions. "Don't freak out at what I'm about to tell you, alright?"

"Well, that's a sure way of trying to freak me out."

The younger twin sighed and decided to get straight to the point. "You've got memory loss. That's why everything seems strange to you." She saw the look on his face and quickly added, "It's only temporary, though. Don't worry."

Zion nodded slowly. "So, I know this place . . ." his words came out more as a statement than a question as he trailed off. He cleared his throat. "I . . . know you?"

The ninth ranker managed a small smile, recalling the day that she'd admitted her feelings to Zion. "Yeah, you do. I'm Genevieve."

"Genevieve . . ." the name rolled on his tongue as he tried to recall it. His mind went blank.

Nevertheless, Genevieve continued filling him in. "So, this is the infirmary," she gestured around. "You were brought here to recover."

"I see." Zion's shoulders relaxed and he casually raised his combat boot-clad feet on the bed, lying down. "But what happened before I was brought here?"

Genevieve froze. She felt uncomfortable revealing that he had been in a scuffle with Corvan because of Valeriana.

"You . . . you don't remember?" she asked cautiously even though she already knew the answer.

"I'm trying to," he said. "Though it's all fuzzy in mind." Zion closed his eyes, and Gen saw that he had shut them so hard that it looked like he was in some sort of pain.

"I'm just getting weird flashes," Zion said with eyes still shut. "I'm seeing uniforms for some strange reason."

Genevieve saw a loophole in his statement and decided to take the chance to distract him from his previous question of what got him here.

"Oh, uniforms, you say," she spoke hastily. "Well, that's because this is an Academy. Celeste Academy."

Zion gave her a confused look. "Celeste?"

She nodded.

"So I'm here in this Academy to be trained to fight?" he asked.

"More or less." Gen replied. She also wanted to add that he was a baron but had second thoughts and decided not to overwhelm him with information. That would be revealed another time.
