AMBER

Valeriana slammed the door to the infirmary behind her and followed Charles out.
She wore an agitated look on her face and was planning to practically stomp her way to Corvan and confront him, but Charles spoke up.
"Headmaster Kylon wishes to speak with us, so there'll be a Gathering."
"Okay." She made her way around Charles and walked past him but he held her back again.
"If I'm not asking for too much, Valeriana, I'd like some assistance with the books in the library. They'll be needed for the Gathering."
Valeriana turned to face him. "Books? For what?"
Charles began making his way towards the library. "The Autumn Ball, of course. After what happened last year, we need to get our facts straight and prepare early to avoid last minute hassles."
Valeriana had no clue on what he meant but shrugged nevertheless. "Okay, then. If you need my help, sure."
They walked in silence before the fifth ranker spoke up again. "Is there a book that has adequate information about the Autumn Ball?"
Charles nodded. "We'll retrieve it, for your sake, the twins and Brindon."
"Why . . . us?"
Charles gave her a meaningful look. "The four of you weren't in the Academy during last year's Ball."
Valeriana's mouth formed an 'O'. She also figured that she might as well know more about the Autumn Ball and stop being so clueless.
Soon, the duo arrived at the library. Charles made his way towards Rinda and greeted her.
"Good afternoon." He gave her a subtle nod.
Rinda gave him an indifferent look and hummed in reply.
Charles scribbled something down on his notebook and tore the page, before handing it to Valeriana. "Here. This is the list of books that I'd like for you to search for. It won't be a bother if you don't find all of them."
Valeriana's eyes scanned the paper and she nodded before walking away.
Charles pushed his glasses up his nose, heading towards the opposite direction and began searching the shelves.
"Feasts and Festivals . . . Feasts and Festivals . . . Feasts and . . . ah!" He weaved his way between two shelves.
His eyes scanned the books that were arranged in alphabetical order. A thin film of dust had accumulated on them.
"Mezdera Gil." He spotted the author's name quite fast. Charles slid the heavy leather-bound book out of its slot and dusted it off, before reading the title:
Aetherian Festivals.
Although it wasn't the book he specifically wanted, the fourth ranker's curiosity got the best of him and he pried open a random page.
" . . . the Cadence of Aether. Light and peaceful sounds are associated, and the same applies to the colours used in preparation of . . ."
