♠chapter eight♠
MEMORY LOSS•••
"What do you mean we've met before?" Genevieve asked Zion, his words scaring her. "Do you know where you are right now?"
"I . . . " he trailed off, looking around. "I don't know."
His confusion was vivid on his face, as he stared at everyone in the room in a dazed manner.
"Crap." Valeriana said, "This is bad."
Genevieve frowned, "What's the last thing you remember?"
Zion looked at her, before his face contorted, as if he was in immense pain. He raised his arm and held the right side of his head, wincing.
"Ow!" The blue haired lad groaned.
Genevieve quickly guided his hand away from his head and replaced it with hers. A blue colored glow shone from her palms. Her effect was rewarding as Zion's face visibly relaxed.
"Interesting," Charles said, causing all gazes to stray towards him. He looked at the baron seated on the floor, as if studying a unique specimen. "If my suspicions are right, then Zion seems to be experiencing memory loss. But, since he's just woken right now, we might have to give him some time before he's fully aware of his surroundings. Maybe then, his ability to recall will come back shortly."
The fourth ranker paused, "That is, if his head injury isn't severe."
Tamara rolled her eyes and crossed her arms. She was about to respond when Charles kept going on with his speech, "His dazedness might be as a result of waking up after the head injury, so confusion is normal. It might take a while before the fog in his mind is cleared up." He paused, "That is, if his memory loss is only temporary."
"Temporary?" Genevieve asked, an alarmed expression on her face. "Are you saying that there's a possibility his memory loss is permanent?"
"Perhaps," Charles replied.
Genevieve drew her attention back to Zion, who had been staring at the rankers with lots of wonder filling his eyes. She removed her glowing hand from his head and leveled her gaze with his, "What's your name?"
"M-My name?" Zion stuttered.
Gen nodded.
"I'm Zion . . ." he trailed off, uncertainty laced in his voice.
Keelan spoke up, after a long time, "Are you sure?"
"I think so?" The baron replied.
Charles stared at his information-ridden blue notebook, "It's not as serious as I feared. At least he still remembers himself."
"But the question is," Valeriana spoke, "Just how much does he remember about himself?"
The rankers strayed their eyes back to the unfortunate non ranker. Keelan took the initiative to ask the one question that the others were currently thinking about, even though the ninth ranker had already asked it.
"What's the last thing you remember?"
Zion frowned in deep thought, "I . . . I . . ." He sighed, holding his head once again, grimacing while at it.
"Guys, I think we're pressuring him too much." Valeriana said. "Maybe he's still in pain."
Genevieve tried her healing power on him once more, "I've never dealt with memory loss before. I can only ease the pain, but I don't know if doing that will make him remember."
