Calum is meeting Brandy after school today, but he needs an excuse to tell Micheal, since the best friends usually hang out after school. What could he say? He definitely couldn't straight out say that he is working on a plan to figure out why exactly Michael and Luke hate each other. When debating his choices, Calum quickly finds out there is not many possible excuses that he can use. He can't say he doesn't feel well because that has never stopped him from hanging out with Michael. He can't tell him he has chores because Michael knows Joy, Calum's mom, only makes him do chores on Saturdays . Calum spots Michael walking to him. He was running out of time to come up with something to tell him.
"Hey, mate. What's up?" He asks, as he walks up to me.
"Not much, but I can't hang out today."
"How come?" He asks, confused.
"I'm going to be with this girl." Well, it's not a lie. He'll just think Calum means he is going on a date. Which, also, helps Calum keep up the act of being straight. He just wishes he could be who he was without the fear of being judged, especially his best friend. Is that to much to ask? Apparently, since Calum doesn't have that. If that was always the case, Calum would be free and himself. He would still have this whole Luke problem, but that would be easier. He could just tell Luke that he isn't straight and sees what happens.
"What girl? " Michael says, breaking Calum's train of thought.
"Brandy Leson, she's in my chemistry class."
"She's pretty, although, she's not really my type," He says.
She's not mine either, Calum thinks. She doesn't have a dick. "Well, I have to go now. See ya."
"Okay, later," Micheal waves. Calum sighs in relief. He sets on his way to find Brandy
---
"Brandy!" She turns around, her red hair flipping around. She smiles and waves.
"Hey," She says. "Where we off to?" Calum didn't really think of that.
"Uh, Macca's?" Calum say, more of a question than a statement.
"Great!" She exclaims. Calum and Brandy walk in the direction of the boy's car. She gets in the passenger seat as Calum gets in the driver seat. He starts the car as he starts thinking of ways to get the reason Michael and Luke hate each other out of one of the boys. He comes up with absolutely nothing. He hopes she can. He also hope she doesn't think this is a date.
---
"Any ideas?" Calum asks Brandy right as they sit after getting their food.
"Well, there's something I should mention. This might make you way happy. Or not," Brandy states. Calum gives the girl a confused look. "I'm Luke's cousin." Calum is extremely shocked. They don't look at all similar.
"Really?" Calum asks.
"Yeah. So maybe this could be easier than you thought?"
"Yeah, maybe. So do you just want to ask him?"
"I can try and if that doesn't work we can find another way." Calum smiles. He thought this would be much more complicated so this just makes it so much simpler. "Why do you want to know so bad anyways?" Calum smile falters.
"Well," Calum hesitates, "you promise not to tell anyone, right?" Brandy nods. "Okay, I sorta kinda maybe have a crush on Luke." Brandy's face lightens up as if she just found the cure to cancer.
"Oh my God, really?" She asks. Calum just nods. "That's so cute. You guys would be so cute together!"
"If he wasn't straight," Calum mumbles.
"Don't assume things, my dear boy."
Brandy was right to say that. You never know someone's sexuality until they directly tell you. Even then, they could be lying, but never assume they are any sexuality.
