WAITING GAME. | X.
(' CONTROLLING THE KING ')"YOUR STANCE IS TOO WIDE, your swings are sloppy and your form is downright terrible," Bronn spoke.
Raya glanced up at him and glared. Her hands were on her knees as she was bent over, trying to catch her breath. Bronn had been working her since early in the morning and from the words he just spoke, she was beginning to think they weren't making any process.
"Straighten up girl," he said, rushing toward her to attack. Raya stood up and lifted the sword to block.
"Good," Bronn said taking a step back. "You're shorter than most men, but if you turn yourself, you'll make and even smaller target."
She moved so that her left foot was angled before her right foot. Bronn nodded.
"Better."
Raya hadn't expected Bronn to be a good teacher, he seemed to have a two track mind; money and women. But as he helped Raya and didn't lose patience with her, she thought there might be a little bit more to him.
"Have you taught before?" Raya asked when Bronn offered her a break.
"No," he answers bluntly. Raya watches as the man sits under a tree. Bronn was a strange man, if she was being completely honest. Her uncle seemed to trust him, well if Tyrion was putting funds in Bronn's pocket, he trusted him.
Raya practiced her swing, and she could feel Bronn's eyes on her as practiced. She alternated hands, not wanting to become too dependent on one. If she was going to wield a sword, she had to excel at it.
So, she practiced.
Every chance she could get, she would run off and swing the sword. Bronn accompanied her a few times, but most times Raya was alone. It was often therapeutic and helped her loosen up. It was a stress relief. Often when she practiced, she was alone with the occasional servant checking on her.
She had not been prepared for the day Sansa Stark would wander outside and find her.
The other girl had been quietly watching her as she did her daily routine. Raya had almost jumped out of her skin when she saw Sansa. She had a look of amusement on her face as she approached Raya.
"New hobby?" she asked. Raya chuckled as she glanced at the dull sword in her hand.
"I guess," she bit her lip nervously. This was their first real conversation since the attack. "How have you been?" She knew Sansa had to have bruising from where the men were holding her. And clear as day was a cut on Sansa's cheek.
Sansa shrugged, trying to downplay her pain, "I have a new handmaiden. How about you?"
"Never better," Raya said faking a smile, "Who is your new handmaiden?"
