Chapter 37

Lauren's POV

I twist the faucet on and grab the hose and started spraying it on the ambulance. We've got nothing else to do today and we haven't gotten any emergency call as of now, so I took the chance to clean one of our ambulance before we got mobilize.

As I was cleaning and scrubbing the side of the ambulance, I felt someone else's presence behind me. "Can I help you?" My face lit up when I heard that voice.

I turn around and saw Y/N standing in front of me with her hands stuff inside her pockets and there's a huge grin on her face. I'm still not used to see her in our nine-one-one uniform, I'm used to see her in her white coat with stethiscope hanging on her neck.

It only has been a day since the dinner with my dad, Luke, Y/N and I happened. I talked to my father after the dinner to tell him that I already called the wedding off and the thing about Y/N and I, but he's avoiding me, until now. I need to know why of all people, he chose to help Y/N and Hailee. I need to know why suddenly he announced that Y/N was his daughter, even though they are not blood related.

I want to tell him that I cannot accept Y/N as my younger sister because she's the love of my life. It pisses me off because he even invited Luke to our dinner last night. And the blonde Aussie even acted like we are still together, when in reality I already broke things off with him.

I saw Y/N's hand waving in my face, it made me jump a little on my spot and swat her hand away. "You're zoning out, Leader Jauregui," She pointed out and smirks.

I rolled my eyes at her and I handed her a clean cloth to dry out the other part of the ambulance. "So what are you going to do today?" Y/N glances down at me and tilted her head as she asks me.

"I have tons of work to do today. Maybe I'm going to work late. I have to substitute in for Louis." I informed her as I wipe the small windows.

"You have to do someone else's work too?" She pouted at me and I chuckled at her cuteness and nodded my head. "Then I should push back my work today." Y/N muttered out.

"What?"

"Nevermind," She giggles and clean the back of the vehicle. "Should I come to pick you up after your work?"

I kink my eyebrows up at her and asked, "Really?"

"Why are you acting surprise? I picked you up from work before. And you have a weird habit of believing in people's word, Lauren Jauregui. I feel like you have trust issues," She scoffs and blow raspberries.

I stop my movements and face my Chief. "So, who's fault is that huh? Who do you think made me like that?" I spray some water on Y/N's direction and her eyes went wide. I walk closer to her and keep on spraying her water.

"No, Lauren." She blocks her face while laughing loudly. "Lauren, stop. I'm getting wet," She crouch down a little and hug my waist and lift me up.

"Y/N!" I giggled and I drop the hose down. "Put me down!" I squealed as I put a light punch on her back.

Moments later, she place down gently on the ground and my hands instantly wrap around her neck and she place her hands on my waist. She pecks my nose and I scrunched it up. "You know, we can't get this shit done." I said while laughing.

"Mhmm," Y/N presses her lips on my forehead and I immediately shut my eyes, trying to feel her lingering kiss on my head.

"We can make it, right?" I look up to her and she gave me a small smile.
