Chapter Eight- This is Bad
"Aden, why is there a truck in the driveway?" The woman, I'm guessing his mother, yelled and slurred.
"I have a project and my partner came over to work. I didn't think you would be home until later." Aden quietly said, but you could hear the anger laced through his voice.
"What's the little b*tch up to in here?" A male voice, I assume his dad, slurred.
What's going on here? Why do I have to be in the closet? I don't know, but something tells me to stay in here and stay quiet.
"Why are you even home? You never are. I don't want you here. You ruin everything and all you are are two drunks." Aden spat back.
"So that's what you think about the two people that have raised you? Your flesh and blood? I can't believe you. We provide for you and you treat us like this." The man slurred, but his speech was becoming clearer.
"You're not family. You didn't raise me. I raised my self. If anyone is family, it's my friends because they're here more than you." Aden yelled.
This was a full blown argument by now and I was really scared. Aden had been in plenty of fights before, so, if it gets to that point, I wouldn't be too worried about him.
"Where's the b*tch that has the truck outside? We know they're here. Are you sure it's not another one of your one night stands?" The man yelled back.
"She isn't a one night stand. All she is is a partner for a project. Gosh, I don't even know why I'm telling you this. You don't deserve an explanation. You never have. Why do I always give you one?" Aden spat.
I have to get home soon. I hate being here. This isn't something I should witness. I feel like I'm completely invading his privacy by hearing all of this. This is bad. I need to get out of here soon.
I hadn't heard anything for a while, so I looked through a little crack in the door. They were just glaring each other down. It was just Aden and the man now because, I guess, the woman left.
The man slowly made his way toward Aden, and, just before he made it to him, he swung his right fist directly at Aden's nose. The thing is, Aden blocked that punch, and, now that his guard was down, sent his own punch directly at his nose.
All I could see was Aden, in the ground, pounding this guy. Gosh, I didn't want to know about his parents this bad.
I knew I should stop it, but I didn't want to come out of my little hiding spot.
Suddenly, Aden stops. He gets up of the man and walks out the door. He's just going to leave me here?!
He walks back in and toward the closet door.
"Listen, my mom isn't here now. You're going to walk straight to the front door and out to your truck and drive home. My number is programmed into your phone and yours into mine. When I text you to come over to work on the project, that's the only time you come. Understand?"
"Why can't we just work at my house?"
"We can do half and half. We might work at my friend's house. Now, do what I told you, and don't change anything. Now, go."
I did as he said and went straight to my car and drove home.
What did I get myself into? Oh, this is bad.
