Hogwart's Future - Book 1 ✔️

Chapter 3

Seraphina's POV:

I'm at the Ravenclaw vs Gryffindor quidditch match, mainly because Mia dragged me out here. "YESSS! You go Ravenclaw!" Mia shouts from beside me, I'm guessing because they just scored. Instead of paying attention to the match, I've got a Transfiguration book in my hands.

I'm already studying because my older sister Katherine told me that it's a seriously hard class, and that's coming from a Ravenclaw. Besides, I can't dare to get a bad grade because my mum would kill me! - My dad doesn't really care about what grades I get, he just always sides with my mum 'cause he's too scared of her to say anything else. Don't get me wrong, I love my mum, it's just she's really serious about our studies, she is a doctor.

"Hey! Didn't expect you to be here!" Someone shouts from beside me, it's too loud to talk. I turn to look at them and notice that it's Johnathon, John for short, Mia's older brother, and Katherine, my sister. "Yeah well, Mia kinda dragged me out here, I'd rather be in my common room!" I answer back.

"Well that's my little sis' for you! Crazy about quidditch! She's always telling me that I should try out for Keeper!" John shouted.

"And you should!" Kath and Mia both cried out at the same time.

"Hey Sera!" Kath said, waving at me and grinning. She turned back to Johnathon. "But Mia's right! You so should! You're really good at flying and have seriously fast reflexes!" Kath shouts.

"Maybe next year!" John shrugged. "- Anyway, we should probably be getting back to our friends! They'll be wondering where we are!" John shouts and Kath and John both start pushing their way back along the stands. Suddenly a large cheer from the Gryffindor stands goes off and all the Ravenclaws around me either cursed or sighed in frustration.

"Come on! That was an easy block! You could have stopped that!"

Typical Mia.

After a few minutes, Mia finally draws herself away from the match and faces me. "Seriously?! You're studying during a match?! How could you!" I close my book and turn to look at her.

"You know that I have to study, my mum will kill me if I get a bad grade!"

"Why the Merlin, weren't you sorted into Ravenclaw?"

"That's probably why the hat took a few minutes before deciding what house I was gonna be in!" Another cheer from the crowd went off.

"Whooooo!" Mia shouts before turning back to me. "Now put that book down and enjoy the match!"
I sigh and close my book.

"Fine!"

~Time Skip~

The match just finished and Mia and I are on our way to Hagrid's. "I can't believe you! You managed to carry on reading that book without me noticing!"

"Well you were pretty engrossed in the game."

"I guess. Earlier today you said that someone else was gonna join us?"

"Oh yeah! I asked Derek because he seemed quite lonely and I don't think he's made many friends yet."

"Classic Hufflepuff."

"I don't know whether to take that as an insult or a compliment."

Mia thought for a moment. "... Compliment."

I giggle slightly and turn around. "Hey Derek!"

Mia turns around as well and we wait for him to catch up. Once he has, we carry on walking to Hagrids hut. "Isn't it so annoying that we aren't allowed phones here?" Mia asks.

"Oh! I've heard about those! Isn't the newest one umm... The umm... iPhone... 6?" Derek says. Mia freezes beside me, gasping.

My eyes rolled and I twisted around to look at her, walking backwards. "Come on Mia, it's not that astonishing, not that many wizarding families know about the latest muggle stuff. -Some don't know anything at all."

Mia unfreezes and jogs to catch up as we had continued to walk. "But you think that the latest model of phone is the iPhone 6?!"

"There's a more recent one?"

"Yes! We are way past 6." Mai exclaimed.

"How far?"

"Far. Very far." I said.

"So anyway," Mia starts again. "Can you believe that we're not allowed them on school grounds?!"

"All muggle technology is banned, dunno why." I answer back, shrugging.

"Maybe it's because magic interferes with it and breaks it?" Derek offers.

"Probably... Still, it would be really nice to have one." Mia complains again.

"Stop complaining Mia, we're here." I say. Just as I'm about to knock on Hagrids door, Mia puts her arm out to stop me.

"What are you-" I start to say.

"Sh!" She whispers and puts her finger over her mouth.

"What is it?" Derek whispers. As an answer, Mia slowly walks towards the door and gently puts her ear to it. She stays like that for about a minute before quickly pulling away from the door and pulling us behind the pumpkin patch and pushing us down so we can't be seen. Just as we do that, the door to Hagrids hut opens and Uncle Albus, our Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher, steps out with a worried look on his face.

After another minute of hiding behind the pumpkins, Mia finally gives us the all clear. "What was that about?!" Derek asks in confusion.

"Well, just as Sera was about to open the door, I heard Uncle Albus talking about some rebel creatures, mainly giants, so I told you to be quiet so I could listen in. You won't believe what I heard." Mia says dramatically.

I sigh and play along. "Let me guess, you heard that Astronomy isn't a class anymore? Or that they're gonna allow technology?" I guess.

"No! This is a bad thing! Apparently there are rumours that the rebel creatures are going rogue and are gonna launch an attack!" Mia announces.

"Yeah, rumours. That doesn't mean it's true." Derek says while shaking his head.

"But it could be!" Mia exclaims.

"Why are so excited about it?"

"I'm not! ... Ok, I kinda am. I mean, don't you want to be in a fight of some sort?" Mia asks.

"No, not really. Shouldn't you be in Gryffindor?"

"Meh, I value intelligence over bravery, plus I asked the hat if I could be in Ravenclaw, I am smart enough."

"Come on," I say. "Lets go say hi to Hagrid."

And so we knock on Hagrids door and pretend that we didnt hear anything at all.
