Chapter 4

Charlene's POV

The game seemed to last for an eternity! And it didn't help that Gryffindor won. Honestly, it was a waste of time. I don't see why everyone else finds it so intriguing.

I went back to the common room, and started doing my homework. Why is everything so mundane?

I finally finished my homework, and I checked the time. It's already been an hour since I started. This day has passed as the most boring and insignificant day in history for me.

Suddenly, I heard tapping on the common room window. I looked over, and I saw Zeus perched on the outside windowsill, pecking on the window to get me to open it. I opened the window, and immediately a gust of wind made all my assignment papers go flying across the room. I shut the window as soon as I could, and while I was picking up my scattered papers, I noticed a package in Zeus's talons. Once he saw I was looking at it, he left it on the table and perched on my shoulder. I looked at who the letter was from and smiled. Then I heard people coming inside. I quickly hid the parcel and Zeus, noticing my panic, flew into a corner as soon as he could. I pretended to still be doing my homework.

As soon as the people got inside, Zeus flew out just as the door was closing.

" Charlene, are you OK? " A familiar voice said.

" Ebony? " I said. " What are you doing here? I thought you and Lolita were going around Hogwarts?"

" Well, we were, but I decided to come check on you. You seem a little down. " She said, sitting next to me.

" Look, I'm fine! You can go back to Lolita now. " I said. I desperately needed to open that package and hide it, if anyone finds out I'm doomed.

She sighed. " I can tell when you're lying. What's wrong? "

" Well, a lot of things are. " I admitted, mentally slapping myself for saying that. " I'll get over it, I'm fine! "

" If you say so... But no matter what happens, I'm here to help. " She said.

" You sound like a Hufflepuff. " I teased. She groaned.

" Don't push it. " She threatened. There, that's back to normal. " Just let me know if you need anything, OK? "

" Yeah yeah, I get it. Now get back to Lolita before she gets here. You'll already going to get an earful from her since you're here. " I said.

" Heh, yeah. See you later. " She said, walking out the door.

" Bye! " I said, as she shut the passageway.

" Phew. " I said. I tore open the package and quickly put its contents in my drawer. I doubt anyone would look there.
