"You see, she was born with a talent, doctor." My mother said, putting her hand on my shoulder, her nails sinking into my flesh. I couldn't feel the pain that would accompany it, but I could still feel it.

"
And what might that be, Mrs..?" The man in white said.

"Miss Mary, please." My mother said.

I looked around the room, no longer paying attention to my mother. I noticed a fish bowl in the corner of the room. I smirked.

"And I've seen what she's done, our cat went missing about a week ago..."

I stared at the fish. It eventually looked towards me, and we made eye contact.

"I found it in the attic. Its claws had sunken into its own neck... "

I tried to stop smiling, but it was pretty hard.

"It was only me, my ex-husband and her in the house. And that's not the only time it's happened... "

The fish floated to the top of the bowl, and then into the air. It floated outside of it, before falling onto the floor with a little pop. I watched it squirm, helpless, as the man ran to pick it up and put it in the bowl. It just acted normal as if nothing had happened. I looked back to my mother, who looked visibly shaken. I smiled at her.

"I'm fine mom. Can we go home now?" I said, my voice sickeningly sweet. Mother nodded. Her face relaxed.

As we walked out, I heard the doctor take one last breath before collapsing. We were the only people he was to see today, and we booked last minute so there were no traces of us. Well, apart from my mothers fingerprints everywhere. How careless.

Charlene's POV

Me and Ebony walked to the train together with Lolita trailing behind us, talking to one of her guy friends, which she insisted that nothing was going on.

"Eb, Char, me and Vi are going to stay in a compartment with his friends. Sorry girls! " She said. She had picked up a habit of shortening all our names to a minimum amount letters, which is annoying since she even started calling the teachers ' Te' which got her enough backlash just from one.

We said goodbye and so I set off with Ebony to find an empty compartment, and it was just my luck that the only one with near enough space was occupied by my brother and his friends.

"Come on, Charlie, it won't be that bad. " Ebony said, practically forcing me in without bothering to knock. I avoided eye contact with all of them.

"How long should this take? " I whispered angrily to her.

"It hadn't even been a minute. Relax for once. " She said.

"Hmph. " I said.

~Time Skip~

Everyone was getting off the train. Me and Ebony said our farewells, promises to keep in touch and all that. I scoured the station for dad, who probably should have gotten off the train himself. Instead I saw an all to familiar face, which I hoped I'd never see again.

She gestured me to go over to her, which I did reluctantly.

" Where's a hug for your mom hun? " She said. I scowled at her.

" Why are you here? " I hissed. She had hurt dad enough to make me hate her, no matter how much she tried to win me back.

" I just wanted to see my kids is all. " She said.

Right, Derek.

I saw him walk over, not even a bit hesitant. He hugged her. Imbecile.

"Derek what do you even think you're doing?! " I hissed at him.

"Now now, why can't you be more like your brother dear? " She said.

"Charlie, it's time to get up... " I heard someone whisper. I woke up with a jolt.

"Come on, we've got to get off the train. " Ebony said. I rubbed my eyes.

"Come on, lets go! I can't wait! " She said. Right, I was spending the holidays with her. Her parents were fine with it, I'm pretty sure they took to me when I first met them in the Easter holidays. Both are pure blooded wizards, and they obviously knew about the Malfoy bloodline, so that got me some respect. I was only going to be there for a few weeks though, since Dad didn't like the idea of me spending months at a strangers house, which means I'll have to go to the family reunion at the end of the month. These were going to be some long few months.
