Chapter 7

Charlene's POV:

" You sure about this? " I asked Ebony. We were just about to go in and I'll admit I was pretty scared. I wasn't one to break rules without a reason.

" Yes I'm sure! Don't you want answers? " She said enthusiastically.

" Of course I do! " I said. Even though I'd barely known her, I'd managed to find out pretty quickly that she'll do anything if she sets her mind on it, which is a scary thought.

" C'mon then! Let's go! " She said, already walking into the forest.

I sighed. I know this is a bad idea, but whatever. I ran in after her, managing to catch up easily.

We ventured in. We saw nothing for a few minutes, just trees. Then we heard noises. Strange noises, inhuman in fact. I don't like those noises.

" Did you hear that? " I whispered. She nodded. She motioned with her hands, signaling me to follow her. We went closer, and I caught a glimpse of something shining between the trees.

We found a spot hehind a few bushes, and we got to get a good view of what was going on.

There were a bunch of different creatures sat in a circle, and they seemed to be discussing something. I noticed that there was an empty potion bottle next to each of them. Then I realized, they were all speaking the same language, English, however terribly it sounded. They all spoke in broken accents, ones that I couldn't recognize.

" Ebony, we need to get out of here! " I whispered, my eyes darting to the large, scaly dragon in the center. It was the first thing I'd saw, its large, green scales shining in the sun. It sounded somewhat French, maybe Italian.

" Charlie wait! We need to hear what they're saying! " She said a little to loudly. The dragons eyes focused on me. A shiver ran down my spine and I got up slowly.

" Ebony...... RUN! " I yelled, startling all the other creatures, their heads turning to face towards us and getting up from their circle.

" CHARLIE! " She screamed. I couldn't look back just yet. The air around me got hotter, yet I couldn't look back until I was safe. When I finally took a quick glance behind me, I saw Ebony right behind me. Her eyes were wide in shock and she was trembling.

" I told you it was a bad idea! " I said when we finally got back to the safety of our common room. The back of Ebony's shirt was slightly singed as well as a lot of her hair, but I don't think anyone noticed.

" You're the one who yelled out! " She said.

" The dragon saw us! What was I supposed to do? Be burnt to a crisp?! " I yelled. Thank god the common room was empty.

We continued bickering until Lolita entered the room, confused.

" What were you two arguing about? " She asked.

Ebony gave me a pleading look. I sighed. I could tell she didn't want anyone to know. It wasn't like I was going to tell anyone anyway.

" Nothing.. It was nothing. " she said before I could get a word in.

" Yeah.. Nothing... "
