Chapter 10

~Meanwhile~

Seraphina's POV:

As I pass the kitchen, on the way to the common room, I see Mia standing at the barrels. I hear a couple other Hufflepuffs going to the common room behind me. As they come round the corner, I put my arm out, to stop them from walking past me and I put my fingers to my mouth, telling them to be quiet. When I turn back around, they notice Mia as well. We all stand back when we see Mia tapping the wrong rhythm on to the wrong barrel. When see finishes the rhythm, a burst of vinegar explodes from one of the barrels, soaking her to the skin. The others behind me try to stifle a laugh, while I walked up behind her.

"What are you doing?"

Mia let out a small scream, jumping out of her skin.

"Sera! W-when did y-you get here?" She said, alarmed.

"A while ago. What are you doing trying to break into the Hufflepuff common room?"

"I was-... I...Umm..." She was trying to make up a lie!

"Mia.." I said, my voice laced with disappointment. "You weren't, were you?" There was a silence where Mia looked at the ground, ashamed, before looking back up at me.

"I'm sor-!" She started to say.

"No. Don't." I turned back to the girls standing behind me, "Go get her."

Two quickly covered Mia's ears and eyes, while the others entered the password and the common room. A few seconds later, the door to the common room closed and the girls came out with Mrs Kettlepot following behind. She sighed at the sight of Mia, before putting her hand on Mia's back and leading her to McGonagall's office.

I entered the common room to see Derek standing at the door. "What was that about?"

"Mia tried to break in." I said.

"Really?!" I nodded. "... Why?" He asked, confused. I looked around before whispering in his ear.

"She was trying to steal the Marauders Map."

"WHAT?!" He shouted. People looked at us questionably. Kerry-Ann, a girl in the year above us, even stood up and asked what was wrong.

"Nothing."

Not wanting to say anymore, I dragged him out of the common room and into the kitchen. "She was trying to steal the map."

"Why?"

"To look for the 'rouge attacking creatures'."

Derek scrunched his nose up. "What? The ones from the rumour?"

"Yeah."

"But it's just a rumour."

"I know. But Mia wants to be sure."

"... Well, then why don't you help her get the map? She'll only need it for a couple seconds, and then you can take it back. No one will find out."

e stood in silence while I thought on it. "I need to lie down." I walked out the kitchen, into the common room, and lied on my bed.

~Time Skip~

Dereks POV:

While I'm walking up some stairs, someone shouts out my name. "Derek!" I turned around to see my fuming sister.

"Who's about to die?" I ask, concerned for the person she was angry at.

"You are!"

"What? But I-"

"You told people about-" Noticing the people around us, she walked up to me and said quietly,"Our mother."

"Only Sera. Why?"

"Well other people found out!"

"I don't see what's wrong with that."

"People are coming up to me! Saying how we've lost our reputation!"

"I didn't want that reputation!" She was so angry, it made me annoyed. She shouldn't be so upset that people found out we're half bloods, many people are. Anyway, it isn't like Pure blood families are gonna last forever. We were now in an empty corridor, the only people were the paintings.

Charlene's POV:

I pulled out my wand, he'd ruined our reputation!

"Charlie.. Calm down.." Spells ran through my mind. "Charlie, put your wand down." Just as I'm about to cast a spell, someone from behind grabs my wand and rips it from my grip.

"Wha-" I turn around to see my dad.

"What do you think you're doing, Charlene?! How many times do I have to tell you not to get violent when you're angry?! Potions classroom! Now!"

As I walk away, I hear him thanking a painting and asking Derek if he was ok.
