Chapter 5

"Sophie?!"

"The one and only," Alter Sophie takes a bow. "You've turned bad?" Nya asks in disbelief. "Nya. One thing you'll learn about me is that, I was never good. The thing is: who could possibly be good, with the Overlord in them?" Alter Sophie answers, tilting her head. That shut the ninja up. "Oh, wow. You guys have nothing to say now? Wow," Alter shakes her head and chuckles. "Well I suppose it's time to let destiny choose our opponents," Acheron says. "Oh I know how to break Sophie. I sure hope destiny lets me do it," Alter cracks her knuckles.

"Not true, not true," Lloyd mumbled over and over again. I don't want to-his thought gets caught off with the smoke becoming thicker.

Cole coughs, the smoke filling his lungs. Moving the smoke in front of him, Cole squints to see. A fist comes towards him and Cole instinctively grabs off. "You're good," Alter's voice rings. "I don't want to fight," Cole says. The smoke clears, and Alter jumps back. "You'll work. Sophie's in for one hell of a fight. You watching in there?" Alter asks, as if there would be an answer. "Well, good luck trying not to fight," she smiles. "You can't have that smile!" Cole yells. "Oh? And why is that?" Alter looks innocently at Cole. "Because you're not Sophie," his fist tightens. "And since when did you care so much?" Alter smirks. "I..." Cole doesn't answer.

"Heh. Knew it. Do you know how much Sophie has been hurting? What kind of friends are you? She lost the most important person to her and you guys all just stop talking to her. Tch. That's some friendship you've got there. I honestly feel bad for her you know?" Alter lands a punch on Cole. Staggering, he punches Alter's stomach. She coughed up blood and wiped it off her mouth. "Now we're talking," she smirks. Alter runs towards Cole, who puts up a shield to block the attacks. Alter then uses dark magic, taking down the shield and pinning Cole against a wall. "Well, isn't this funny?" Alter laughs. "You can't have that laugh," Cole's fist tightens and he grabs Alter. He throws her down and puts rocks around her.

"I don't want to fight," Cole looks desperately at Alter. "Too bad for you," Alter breaks the rocks with her fists covered in black. Then, black vines come up from the ground and Cole jumps around to avoid them. Alter jumps up, her face close to Cole's, then punches him towards the ground. Using the Earth, Cole jumps back up and kicks Alter down. While he landed gracefully, Alter falls to the ground, barely conscious. He comes over, a pleading look in his hazel eyes.

"How did you lose yourself?" Cole asks, standing next to Alter. "Are you serious? Sophie here felt worthless, deadweight. She feels like she doesn't matter to you guys. She feels like you guys are only with her because if you aren't the Overlord will come back. That's why you didn't talk to her. You made her feel like she lost all love. You guys are no friends: what kind of friend throws another friends aside? She had too much respect for you guys and blamed everything on herself. And you knew how much Miranda meant to Sophie. She lost the love, the only love she ever received. Just..wow. I'm honestly sorry you got stuck with these losers," Alter coughs. She moves her leg in attempt to trip Cole, but he jumps back. She gets up. "You're so scared of Sophie that-"

"Shut the hell up!" Cole yells, gritting his teeth. "Touched a nerve have I? You know it's true. You're afraid of Sophie," Alter smirks. "Why you-!" Cole runs up, throwing punches. Alter dodges some of them. He then pins Alter down.

"You remember when I got stuck in another dimension? I couldn't save you...so I told myself..that I would protect you...that I would save you if you needed it. I would protect," his voice goes down. "My world's Sophie." Pain was written all over his face. "I'm sorry, I couldn't protect you...and now...I don't even know how to save you!" Cole slams his fist into the wall. The red eyes soften, then harden.

"Was that supposed to make her feel better? Was that supposed to bring her back? You're making me laugh," Alter let's out a laugh. "C'mon, you've gotta be in there," Cole pleads. His hazel eyes searching Sophie's now, red eyes. "You've gotta be kidding me! This isn't some cartoon where she'll just come back from you saying that," she rolls her eyes. "If Sophie doesn't come back..." his voice trails off.

"Oh I already know. Lloyd will kill me. But, he won't because he's a softie. Well, maybe not that, but to show that he cares about Sophie. Ha, that's a joke," Alter laughs. "Why can't you just shut your mouth?!" Cole tightens his grip on Alter's neck. "He's just as scared as the rest of you are. Pfft. So pathetic," she scoffs. Alter kicks Cole back, blood coming out his mouth. Wiping it off, Cole cover his hand in rocks and is about to punch Alter when her hand gets covered in black and she holds onto his fist. Alter smiles sweetly, and Cole takes his other fist and punches her across the face. Alter uses her free hand to drag Cole down with her.

Both of them end up on the ground, lying on their side and facing each other. That lasts a second. They both get up and attack each other, both counterattacking well. They land onto the ground, breathing heavily. "I don't want to hurt you," Cole pants. "Too late for that, don't you think?" Alter points to the blood marks. He doesn't reply, but runs his hand through his raven-black hair. Alter shows up in front of him and is about to kick Cole when he grabs her leg and spins. Then he throws her down. Alter gets up, almost tripping Cole. The two exchange more blows.

"I should totally break some bones of yours. Or maybe just your spirit?" Alter debates. Cole doesn't bother to reply, but jumps above and grabs her by the neck and pins her down, his grip sorta loose. Alter grabs onto his hand, trying to yank them off. She then let's her arms relax. A smirk forms on her face.

"So you really do see Sophie as an enemy."

A/n: hello, hello! with school starting this Monday...I won't be able to update as much anymore. I am starting High School after all. Anyway, these next few chapter were prewritten but I thought it wouldn't be fair to keep them away. So....enjoy the next few chapters!
