Chapter 16

The sunlight filters through the leaves of trees. The soft light placing itself into Sophie's red face.

The girl woke up, then screamed in pain. Her vision is blurry but the pain is unbearable. Sophie looked down at herself and sees nothing but blood. Her arm felt broken and her legs looked strange.

How did I end up like this?

It then clicked. Acheron decided to go through with that plan and had spared no mercy when purposefully injuring her.

Sophie started crying, the pain is keeping her awake and she couldn't take it. She spots a vine and reaches towards it. She screamed as she tied her broken arm together.

"Wrap over it multiple times..and there! That's how you wrap a bandage," Zane turns to look at Sophie with a smile.

Using that, Sophie managed to get her arm back into position and held it in place.

Sophie drags herself towards a tree, leaving a trail of blood. She leans against the tree, breathing heavily.

"It hurts..it hurts.." Sophie mumbles over and over again to herself. She looks around, hoping to recognize something but she only knew so much about Ninjago.

How can I find the ninja..?

Pain overtakes her senses again and she finds herself unable to think.

Please! Someone..anyone...

Sophie's vision blurs even more as she lets out another scream. A figure of some sort approaches her as blackness takes over.

"Thanks for coming with me Ronin," Skylor says as she moves the huge leaves aside to see a head. "Well, you are offering to pay me a lot," Ronin mumbles, looking around the area. "What exactly are we doing again?"

"We're trying to find Acheron and literally anything else. Also..Sophie's in his hands and I have no idea what he's doing to her.." Skylor's voice trailed off.

"Wait. Seriously? How did that even happen?" Ronin looks over at her, genuinely surprised. From what he saw, back before Miranda died, was everyone making sure Sophie stayed on the Bounty.

"Long story I don't wanna get into," Skylor shakes her head. "Heh, I could've made a few extra bucks," Ronin says, more or less to himself.

Skylor steps into something and looks down to see red blood with dots of black mixed in. "What the hell is that?" Ronin questions, pointing to whatever it was. Skylor bent down and reaches for it when Ronin grabs her wrist.

"Why would you just touch something that's lying there without even knowin' what it is?" Ronin looks at her with confusion. "I thought you'd know that of all people."

"Jeez. It looks strangely like blo-oh gosh this is Sophie's blood!" Skylor shoots up. She sees a faint trail and follows it, running. "Hey! Wait up!" Ronin runs after her. "Gosh, I don't get payed enough for this."

Skylor runs and eventually finds Sophie. As if the blood trail wasn't enough, the screaming made her even more afraid.

"Sophie!" Skylor calls out as she sits by her side. Her one arm wrapped in vines but the amount of blood covering her was no joke.

Skylor didn't get a response, so she checked her pulse. It was slow, but still there. Ronin comes up and behind her.

"Let's get her to a hospital," Ronin says.

"What about telling the ninja?" Skylor questions, concern all over her face.

"We can tell then later! She's gonna die if we wait for them!" Ronin urges. Skylor nods as she picks up Sophie. Careful not to hurt her, but then again, the wounds were all over the place.

"Acheron. I will kill that man personally," Skylor growls.

"Worry about that later," Ronin takes out his phone, trying to get reception to call an ambulance.

"I told the ninja. They're on their way," Ronin says, ending the call. Skylor looks through the window anxiously, not really paying attention.

"Yeah. Good," Skylor absentmindedly says. Ronin sighs, and shakes his head.

"Look. I can't promise anything but you can't just stand here and watch. It's not helping anyone," he crosses his arms.

"I know. But I'm worried. Extremely worried. Sophie is just so..so...fragile," Skylor sighs. "There's just something about her. Everyone she meets immediately feels as if Sophie is their little sister."

"I get it. You care. But your not helping anything by standing here. We should continue the mission if anything," Ronin argues.

"No..Sophie has somehow gotten back from Acheron. I'm not leaving her side because he will come back," Skylor makes anther good point.

"Isn't that Cole's job? Or Lloyd's?" Ronin questions.

"I get Lloyd..but why Cole?" Skylor looks at him, confused. "Oh wait." Skylor turns back around, understanding completely.

"I was gonna say..he's dead obvious about it," Ronin chuckles. "Heh, I guess so," Skylor agrees.

But Skylor couldn't help but worry about one question wandering her mind...

What are we going to do about the Overlord inside Sophie?

"You have?! We're coming!" Kai quickly ends the call and inserts the address into the Bounty.

"Kai? What are you doing?" Nya turns her head around and looks like Kai like he's lost his mind. "That's all the way North from where we are!"

"Skylor found Sophie!" Kai answers. "What? How? That's not even possible!" Nya raises an eyebrow.

"She's injured really badly and is at a hospital," Kai adds, worry all over his face. "Was that from us..?" Nya questions, feeling guilty.

"I don't know..but from what Ronin told me it's a lot worse than what we did," Kai looks at the blinking dot that shows the Bounty's position.

Nya looks up at the map, confused. More injured? How did that even happen? "We should tell everyone else," Kai adds, turning his head to look at Nya.

"We were gonna ask..why are we moving?" Lloyd questions as he steps into the room. Everyone else fills in behind him.

"Also a warning would be nice next time," Jay adds. "I almost fell off!"

Cole raises his eyebrow along with Zane, expecting an answer. Then Wu and Misako come in, looking confused too.

"Skylor and Ronin found Sophie," Kai says turning back to the screen.

2 hours till destination...
