Chapter 6

"He's toying with us," Lloyd's voice shakes. "Get ahold of yourself," Kai places a hand on his shoulder. "Cole disappeared, along with Alter Sophie," Zane notes. "I'm honestly more worried about us," Jay replies. "C'mon! We have to stay positive!" Nya tries to cheer up everyone. "Being positive isn't going to help you, you know," Acheron says.

Acheron sends a giant ball of pitch black their way. "Incoming!" Jay yells, turning their attention towards the giant ball. Kai quickly puts up a fire shield, trying to get it as big as possible.

"I..have to...protect them!" Kai yells, putting all his effort into it. "You aren't alone," Lloyd says, also putting up a shield. "We're all here with you," Nya adds, putting up a shield too. "You may think we need protecting, but we don't. We're here to help," Zane smiles, an ice shield joining the shields. "So don't try to take everything on by yourself," Jay grins, lightning flying everywhere. "This would've been nicer if the Cole and Sophie were here too," Kai sighs.

The giant ball hits them, the two powers canceling each other out. The ninja fall back, the force of the power throwing them back.

"Ow..that seriously hurt!" Jay rubs his head. "No kidding, we smacked right into a wall," Kai points out. "This guy is making me frustrated," Lloyd growls. "There's gotta be a way to break through," Nya racks her brain for an answer. "Sensei said that they didn't know what to do with him..so they put him to sleep. Maybe we could try that?" Zane suggests. "But how would we do that?" Jay asks. "It's not as if we could whip up a potion or anything," he adds.

"Done talking over there?" Acheron yells. "Dang, we put some space us and him," Lloyd notes. Acheron is now several feet away, looking almost like a tiny speck. "Hey, what's that?" Kai points to two figures. One heading their way, and the other towards Acheron.

Feeling dazed, the ninja try to see the figures, gradually getting closer to Acheron.

"It's Cole! And Alter Sophie!" Nya notices. Cole looks like a mess. His hair all messy, blood marks everywhere, he was holding onto his arm and limping. He had his head down. Alter Sophie didn't look any better. She too had blood marks, but wasn't limping or holding onto to anything.

"Cole! What the hell happened to you?!" Kai runs over and let's Cole use him as a support. "Are you injured?!" Zane questions, taking a scan of Cole. "Whatever the case, we need to take him home," Jay says, worry written all over his face. "Alter Sophie did this to you..." Lloyd's voice trails off, his hand forms a fist. "Let's go while we have the chance," Nya adds.

"Let's leave. Now," Alter Sophie grabs onto Acheron's hand and drags him away. "Why?!" Acheron demands. "If you want me to stick around just listen this time," Alter growls. Acheron nods, then his hand is let go. "They're leaving," Jay calls out. "Then let's leave too," Kai suggests.

"What on Earth happened to you?!" Misako asks, bandaging up Cole's wounds. He kept his head down. Wu sighs, moving his head from the doorway.

"So you're saying that Sophie is now under Overlord's control?" Wu asks, trying to clarify. The ninja nod. "It's honestly scary," Lloyd shudders. "But I want to bring her back," he adds. "I don't know if it's just me but...I get the vibe that Sophie's going through something terrible," Kai hints to the Overlord part. "No duh Kai. Miranda died. We stopped talking. And now she's under the control of the Overlord. Of course she's going through something terrible. And we're the cause," Jay points out. "He is right. Sophie needed someone to talk to, not to be neglected by us," Zane adds. "It's funny how you guys are realizing this now when I've been trying to say that they whole time!" Nya says.

"Well, it's not like you talked anyway," Kai reminds her. "Look, we're all at fault here," Lloyd quickly says, seeing the look on Nya's face. "So let's try and fix it together," Jay adds. "That is a good idea," Zane agrees. "I'm in," Nya chirps in. "I'm gonna do it. But let's wait until Cole's healed up," Kai adds. The ninja nod. "Good. You know how to solve this problem. Now what about Acheron," Wu goes into his own thoughts.

"I don't if you could call it a solution...it's more of a general idea," Zane states. "Yow know, I wonder what happened during their fight," Jay muses.

"What happened?" Acheron asks simply, crossing his arms, and sitting on a chair.

"I was facing some resistance. If it dragged on longer, I wouldn't be here right now," Alter answers, looking board. "I see. Did you manage to do anything?"

"Heh. I think I may have broke that guy's spirit...and his leg...and his arm."

"Looks you've also broken those things yourself." Acheron points to the bandage wrapping.

"Well my spirit is still here."

"Yeah, yeah. I need to talk to the Overlord."

"Just give me a minute."

The Overlord's face appears onto Alter's. "We've got a situation," the Overlord begins. "What is it?" Acheron questions.

"It seems as if separating me and Sophie will result in one of us dying."

"Well, you'll survive, right?"

"Who knows. But, there may be a way for only me to survive."

"Really? What may that be? If you'll care to explain that is."

"Since Sophie consists of both my powers, and Energy, it will be difficult for either of us to survive since she shares my powers. But, if we were to remove one of those, my survival will be guaranteed."

"So what exactly are you suggesting here?"

"Don't you get it? All we really have to do is remove the Energy in Sophie. That'll end her life, and save mine. Reshaping the body, to be mine."

"And just how are you going to do that?"

"Have you ever heard of Chronos Steel?"
