Beautiful nightmare

"Good morning, Mr. Muhlach." Lea greeted him formally and sat on the chair in front of his. They are currently in a restaurant for Aga called her because of, as he referred it, legal purposes.

"Why am I here? What can I help you with?" she had her notebook and pen out from her bag and looked at him ready for any information he'll throw he but he seemed to be spacing out.

"Ags?" she finally got his attention. He sighed and apologized. He cleared his throat and began discussing.

"Lauren wants to pursue with the annulment." Lea bit her lower lip upon hearing his first statement. Though, not surprised with it, his reaction gave her this unexplainable feeling. He seemed so upset with it.

"We are taking counseling or some sort of therapy sessions about this and the last one is scheduled later. So I want you to be ready just in case I'll call you to represent me before the family court."

She heard him took a deep breath so she looked at him. He is still unwaveringly handsome, caring, and all that he is before. But there's this sadness on his eyes that somehow brings prickle of pain in her chest.

"What would you want me to do?" she asked after a while and took a sip of the wine that has been served minutes ago.

"I want to eat first. I couldn't think straight." Lea agreed to his suggestion but she asked him for details as they eat anyway. And his answers were unexpected.

"I tried, Lei."

She looked at him in the eyes and asked, "You tried what,Aga?"

"I tried what you wanted me to do after you walked away: to love her with all that I am, to treat her like my queen, I gave my best, Lea. But all she could see is me loving you more than I loved her. The shadow of the past still haunts her."

She was silenced. She could remember Lauren's voice, she could remember their exchange of words from weeks ago.

"Thank you, Lea for giving granting me that wish.. I'll never forget." Lauren gave her a sad smile."But I guess, tama sila. Distance just really make the heart grow fonder."

"Anong si—"

"He tried his best to make time for me, for us. He tried to make me feel loved but I know it has always been you."

"You should've done it."

"I did my best! I tried eve—"

"Oh, you tried." She mocked him. "Sinubukan mo lang pero di mo ginawa talaga." Aga seemed to lose his cool. With his calm yet strong tone of voice he told her,

"How dare you question what I did to save my marriage when you are the reason why I am in this situation?" Lea was taken aback with what he just blurted. It was like a bomb was thrown to her. Yet, she managed to answer.

"I am the reason? Really, Aga? It was your choice to cheat on her."

"And you let me do it with you kasi ginusto mo din."

She looked at him again straight to his eyes with her piercing glares not wanting to lose the staring contest he started.

"No, Aga. You chose me to cheat with because you knew I loved you and I will do everything for you because I was head over heels about you."

Aga remained silent and just let her be.

"You were so in love with the idea that I was madly, deeply and crazy in love with you that you thought I'd agree to being your mistress and you won because the foolish that I am agreed."
