Genesis' POV
We were able to bring Tegan home a few days ago and I was so excited to have both her and Mom home. We made the birth announcement at the hospital and sent them out to everyone. They were really cute. It had her, her first outfit that Grandma got for her, and the finished design of the nursery.
But we could only celebrate her coming home for so long, I missed three days of dance while we were waiting for Tegan and her first days home, so I could not miss today. Everyone at the studio also wanted to meet the newest addition to our family, so Tegan was coming with us to dance today.
I pulled my hair up into a bun and then pinned one of the big JoJo Siwa bows to it. I was feeling kinda tumblr today, so I wore my basic black leotard and nude tights, then slipped my pink 'tiny dancer flannel over it as a warmup/cover up. I did some quick and light makeup, then grabbed my dance bag to head out the door.
I headed downstairs and made my way to the car parked in the garage. Stella and Tori were getting into their booster seats all decked out in their pink leotards and tutus for their ballet class. Mom was carefully putting Tegan into her carseat and quietly talking to her in a soft 'babytalk' voice.
It was kinda sweet to see her like that. It wasn't like she was taking better care of her than any of us, but we could always stand on our own a little. Now, she has this tiny human that completely relies on her.
We all got into the car and made our way to Blitz Dance Academy. I went into the studio with my mom and sisters to see everyone preparing for Nationals next month. It's so weird to think of how quickly it crept up on us. I was going to be learning my solo today.
Jaxon and I knew our entire duet, we just had to keep perfecting it. The group dance was close to perfected, we had our large door prop and costumes for it already. All I had to do now was learn my solo, 'A Thousand Years'.
I saw Brynn in one of the studios learning the group dance she was doing with the Senior company called, 'I Won't Be Like You'. It's to the song DNA by Lia Marie Johnson and it's really powerful and Brynn's doing great. I waved to her and she waved back.
She must have noticed Mom carrying in the baby carrier, because Brynn turned to the teacher and then came running out to us. "OMG! Is that Tegan?!" She asked in an excited whisper. I nodded and then Mom lifted the blanket a little bit for Brynn to see. "She's so cute!" Brynn gushed.
Word got around quickly in the studio that Tegan was here and everyone was fawning over her. Cambrie even pulled out a onsie that said 'Future of Blitz Dance Academy' in sparkly pink.
We all eventually got back to work and our classes, and I was pulled in for my solo while Mom sat on the observation deck with Tegan.
My solo was obviously to the song A Thousand Years by Christina Perri. I started my dance on the ground and then rolled over and up to do a quick leg kick and then jump.
I had about half of my dance learned when Cambrie pulled me over. "Your doing good Genesis. You think you can beat the girls from Abby Lee?" Your the only soloist in your division coming from here." Cambrie said. "What about August? We're the same age." I inquired.
"Her solo is acro-gym, so she's competing for a different title. You are the only soloist in your age division from me competing in lyrical/contemporary." Cambrie told me.
What?! Oh god. Thanks for the extra pressure. "What girls from ALDC are competing?" I asked as I fixed my bobby pins in my bun. "Maddie and Mackenzie have left, so you have Kendall, JoJo, and their Brynn." Cambrie said as she checked her phone.
Okay, it's no one that I haven't beaten before. I'm not saying they are bad dancers, they are amazing dancers, but I don't learn my dances in a week. I have time on my side, they don't really. I've beaten JoJo basically every time we compete against each other, Kendall I've beaten twice, and I've never actually had a solo against their Brynn. She bumped up in her age division so we actually get to compete against each other.
"Apparently there's a rumor that Abby is scouting some of us." I tell Cambrie. I feel like as my coach she should know what's going on with her dancers. "Yeah I know. She's trying to get you, P-K, and Jaxon." She time me. Cambrie clearly was in the loop.
"What do I do if she offers me a spot?" I ask, just thinking ahead. "You choice honey. I could understand why she wants you. Your an amazing dancer! But ultimately, it's your choice. Just remember, no matter what, you will always have a home here." Cambrie said as she put her hand on my shoulder.
I thanked her and then we went back to running my solo, but I had a thousand thoughts racing my mind. They were about the movie role I got, Nationals, Abby Lee Miller, the ALDC dancers, my future as an actress and dancer, heck my family!
I just had to keep my head straight and remember that this will all be okay in the end. And hey, if it's not okay, then it's not the end.
