Genesis' POV

Every year at the dance studio, on New Years Eve we have this huge sleepover party to celebrate the New Year and how we do at Nationals.  I didn't go last year because I was really sick, but this year I was able to go!  So around 7pm, Mom drove me over to the Blitz and dropped me off.

"Bye Mom, Happy New Year!" I told her as I got myself and my bag out of the car.  "Yep, you too.  Bye sweetie, love you!" she said as I got out and headed to the studio.  When I walked in, I saw a ton of dancers there, there were girls and guys from all levels inside.  Some people were hanging out, others were in the studio doing dances, people were hanging out and eating, and a few of the more anti-social dancers were just chilling in a corner.

"Hey Genesis!" I heard my name be called.  I whipped my head around and saw Kayla, Tessa, and Autumn come over to me as a group.  "Hey guys!" I said as I gave them a hug.  They all had on pajama shorts, a Blitz Dance Academy crop top, and their hip-hop shoes.  I was glad I had remembered to bring a dance outfit, cause I knew that we usually do old dances.  Sometimes, the owner of the studio, Miss Rhonda Hart, would even bring in a guest choreographer to teach a dance combo that night.

That night though, it looked like it was just teachers and dancers from the studio.  Since each main dance room has a glass viewing wall, you could see that in one studio, there was a dance battle going on, in another there was a Senior dancer teaching a dance combo, and then in the last main room there were people rotating and doing different dances.  Some did trios and duets, solos, or even gathered up and did a group dance.

"Let's go in Studio C and do our trio guys!" Tessa suggested.  Earlier in the season Tessa, Kayla, and I had done a trio called  'Streets Of Gold' inspired from the Disney movie 'Oliver and Company'.  We didn't use it at a competition, but for an audition to dance at Disneyland.  Kayla was the only one who got accepted, but it was still so much fun to do the dance and it's our go to dance when doing a fun performance.

"Yeah, one sec, let me change!" I said.  I ran into the dancer's den to change and there were a few other people in there hanging out, including Miss Cambrie!  "Hey Miss Cambrie!" I said as changed out of my sweat pants and into a black dance romper.  It is so comfy!  It's actually what I wore for the audition video because it has gold decals all over it.  "Hey kiddo!  You just get here?" she asked and I nodded.  She was quiet for a minute while I changed and put on my gold dance sneakers.

Just before I left, Cambrie stopped me and said, "Hey can I talk to you, Parker-Kate, and Jaxon around 10?" I nodded and then left, "What would she need that she can't tell me now?"  Oh well, I shrugged it off and then went to go find Kayla and Tessa who were already in the dance studio setting up our music.

One of the cute little mini dancers was pretending to be the M.C. and announced our dance.  The girl looked to be around 10.  She started our music and then we went at it.  It was a little bit of everything in the choreography.  There had hip-hop, jazz, acrobatics, and musical theatre elements in the dance but it's still so much fun.  It has so much sass and is just really fun to dance to.  I had a turn combo in the dance and I nailed it!

At then end of the dance, the other dancers in the room applauded us and we took a dramatic bow.  After that I was hungry so we went and enjoyed the different food that was brought in, which was a lot.  Hey, when you're feeding anywhere from 150 to 200 dancers in one night, you make sure you have all your bases covered!

A few hours went by and then before I knew it, Miss Cambrie approached me with Parker-Kate and Jaxon following behind her.  I was watching one of the senior company dancers named Kendall do her Nationals solo called 'Paralyzed' and I was transfixed.  The three of them waited until Kendall had finished dancing and then I followed them out to Miss Rhonda's office.  The last time I was in here was when I was completing my paperwork for Nationals.  Rhonda was in there too so I know it had to be somewhat important.

"Hey guys so I have news for all of you." Rhonda started with.  The three of us looked at each other and then back at our teachers.  "So, you all know that Abby Lee Miller was scouting you guys.  Two days ago I got a call from her assistant Gianna and she wanted to know if you guys would want to take a trial at her studio in Los Angeles."

We all had different reactions.  Jaxon had a look of shock and excitement.  Parker-Kate just looked really bothered and a little disgusted.

I on the other hand, probably looked the same way that Katniss looked in that one scene from Catching Fire when that random drunk guy comes up to her after the ceremony and kisses her.  I just didn't really now how to react

"I'm not going." Parker-Kate flatly stated.  "This has been my home since I was two.  I ain't giving this up for Mama Drama and an hour on a reality show." she chuckled.  Rhonda and Cambrie nodded and then looked at me and Jaxon.  "I would have to talk to my mom and dad, but I wanna try it.  Abby has really good boy dancers." Jaxon said.  Rhonda nodded but looked a little dissapointed.  Then all eyes were on me.

"I-I can't.  This is my second home!  I don't think I could do that to my team." I said with a smile.  I can't just leave my friends!  "I can take a master open class at the ALDC whenever I want, but the Blitz is my home.  I already have the jacket, it would be crazy to give it up!" I laughed at the last part.

"Alright, well we respect your decisions. Jaxon, if your mom and dad aren't busy tomorrow when you get picked up we can talk to them about the trial.  You guys can go back to the party now."  Cambrie said.  We all nodded and then left back to the studios.

I was happy with my decision.  I wasn't upset that I wasn't going or that I was staying here.  I loved this place, like I said, it's basically my second home!

I met back up with my friends and then we went to go dance battle the Senior dancers.  They don't fo easy on you cause you're younger than them, they go hard, and we went just as hard.  We danced all night and then right at 11:50, the teachers pulled up the local Santa Monica New Year's countdown to 2017.

***

Hey guys, so it's been a minute.  I wanted to update a lot on all of my books over break, but I ended up getting so sick after Christmas, so I could barely move.  I'm actually still sick and missed the first week back to school, but I was feeling a little better and decided to update.

I hope you all enjoyed this.  I want you to know that I have this book planned to the ending and the end of this book is the end of the series.  The ending is probably gonna be something you all would have never seen coming!

Bye guys, love ya!
