Genesis' POV

Well, today is the day my lips have been dreading.  It's competition day and I have to kiss Jaxon on the lips in front of a whole audience and judge panel.  To say I was a little nervous was the understatement of the century.

I was sitting at my makeup station fixing my eyeliner.  "Gen, you almost ready?  Cambrie needs you and Jax in the wings in fifteen minutes." Mom gave the warning.  I nodded in the affirmative and checked the rest of my makeup and then tested my hair.  I shook my head a little to make sure my curly bun didn't fall out.  I had probably enough hairspray and bobby pins to fit a drag queen though.

I looked over the other girls who were leaving for their solos.  I gave a thumbs up to Tessa as she left to go perform her solo.  It was a solo about suicide and she had a gorgeous black lacey costume on.  It was kind of a dark theme for someone our age but that was the point of it.  If her solo places well enough, this might be a contender for Nationals.

I went over to Cambrie for her to approve everything.  "You, my love, look stunning!  Jaxon should be ready in the hall.  I wanna run and mark the dance in the hallway before you go perform it.  I pray to God he doesn't drop you." Cambrie exclaimed as she ushered me into the hall.  Mom following shortly behind.

I saw Jaxon in the hall and he had on black jazz pants, a black dance shirt, and a tie that matched the pink of my costume.  "Hey, you ready to kill this duet?" Jaxon chuckled.  I nodded and smiled as Cambrie gave us the run down.

"Ok guys, the ALDC has two duets this weekend.  None of them are boy-girl.  You two have a big advantage today.  This duet is going to kill it.  I believe in you guys.  Now run the duet really quick." She told us firmly.  We nodded and then started the music on Cambrie's phone.

As we ran the duet and marked a few of the tricks, I saw Kalani, Maddie, Mackenzie, and Brynn from ALDC walk down the hall.  I didn't look at them though.  This was our moment and that stage was going to be ours to own.  However, Abby stopped to say a few words to us.  Thank God my mom was containing herself, being the huge 'dance moms' fan she is.

"Hello you two.  Getting your duet ready?" Abby quipped.  We stopped our music and turned to speak to her.  "Yep!" I squeaked.  I saw the girls freaking out about my mom being right there.  Seriously?  Get a hold of yourselves.

"Well, my girls have been working very hard all week."  Abby taunted.  "We've been working really hard all month too." Jax said with a smirk.  You get 'em J.

"Good luck." The DM girls said as they walked away.  "Good luck you guys." Jaxon and I told them as we turned back to Cambrie.  "She's kind of an ass in person." My mom muttered to Cambrie as she nodded.  "Make that woman eat her words.  Do I respect her as a dance teacher, yes.  Does she have amazing students, yes.  But, does she have a whole lot of manners to others, not really.  You guys are going to do amazing!" Cambrie rambled on her tangent of a pep-talk.

Ten minutes later we were on the wings waiting our turn to go next.  Kalani and Brynn were a few before us and they were really good, but I  think we can beat them.  "Thank you Sasha and Tyler, that was a beautiful duet.  Next we have Genesis and Jaxon, performing a musical theater duet titled 'Shut Up and Dance With Me!'" The announcer called out.

Jaxon and I were on opposite sides of the stage and we waited for the other duet to exit while we waited for our music to start.  Soon enough the duet before us was gone and our music was starting.

The duet went on and continued flawlessly!  I was never dropped!  The kiss at the end still had me a little worried.  We never actually kissed in practice.  I didn't let my facials show that though.  When we kissed I made sure it seemed like i was shocked and so happy.  It wasn't too bad...

Jaxon and I exited the stage and we high-fived each other.  We raced back to the dressing rooms for the group dance that wasn't far away.

Awards came almost right after our group dance.  We were all on stage dancing and doing crazy moves.  I could see all of the moms from our studio and Cambrie in the third row.

"You all ready for some awards?!" The announcer yelled and we all screamed in approval.  Solos went first and Tessa got second in the age group, only to Mackenzie Ziegler who got first.  The two other soloists from our studio were in different categories and took first.

Then came duets and trios.  They did the minis and juniors and then were finally in the teen category.  Jaxon and I held hands waiting for our duet to be called.  We prayed it would be called for first.

"Third place, 'Birds of a Feather' ALDC.  Second place, 'Shades of Gray ALDC." The announcer called.  They both didn't place first?  Maybe we had a shot...

"First place goes to 'Shut Up And Dance With Me!' Blitz Dance Company!" The announcer yelled and our whole studio cheered as Jaxon and I went for our award.  "What are your names and who choreographed this dance?" We were asked.

"I'm Genesis and my partner is Jaxon." I said.   "Our choreographer is Cambrie Tyson from Blitz Dance Company." Jaxon told the man as we held our trophy.  We went back to our seats but went back up shortly after to receive our first place teen group dance award!  We beat the ALDC in a group dance?!  That was awesome!

"Loved your duet." I heard from behind as we went to our dressing room.  I turned and saw Maddie and Abby talking to me.  "Thank you." I told them and then Abby spoke.  "You ever wanna dance with me, just let me know.  I might have a spot for you."

Woah, Abby really does want me for her team?  O never thought this would happen, but I don't think I could leave The Blitz.  I love this place.  After all there is no place like home, and the studio is definitely my second home.
