Lucky Thirteen

Gen's POV

I woke up to the smell of dog breath and the undertone of pancakes.  When I eventually opened my eyes there was all three dogs, and all four additional family members crowded around my bed.

"Happy Birthday Genesis!" Was screamed into my face.  I started laughing profusely as I fully awoke.  My mom was balancing a baby on one hip, and holding a huge breakfast of sprinkled and whip creamed pancakes in the other hand.

"Thanks guys!" I chuckle as I took my food and pushed the dogs and smaller children away.  "I have a huge day planned that kicks off in an hour.  So start getting ready." Mom said as she handed me a bag that she had picked up off the floor.

I thanked them all again, and then they left to go get ready.  I looked inside the bag and saw a brand new outfit!  Like I don't already have enough clothes, but I was grateful.  I got changed into awesome shirt and new distressed jeans.

After I changed, did some minimal makeup, and straightened my hair, I took a quick Birthday Selfie for mysocial media. 

"#Lucky13 #HappyBirthdayToMe", is what I captioned the photos to my Snapchat streaks and story and then also my Instagram.  After that I was just checking my phone in general and saw all the Happy Birthday messages.  I thanked everyone, but then found one that wasn't from today, but from last night. 

I opened it and it was from Angela.  As my manager, she only really talks to me when something big is happening.  I looked at the text and it read,

"Bad news, Margot had to drop the movie.  She wasn't allowed to explain why. Auditioning new people for her role tomorrow in New York, 16th in Miami, 17th in Chicago, and 18th in Cali.  Final decision by 27th.  You need to be there on the 27th. ☹"

I groaned.  Again?  Can't I just sign on to a movie with a script and cast that will stay the same?!  I texted her back with a simple, "okay" and then proceeded to get ready for my day.  It was my birthday, nothing can get in the way of this day being awesome!

I grabbed my dirty dishes from breakfast and headed down the stairs.  When I was about half way down I was shocked! 

"Tessa!  Jamie!  CHLOE!" I screamed and ran down, embracing my friends.  I hadn't seen Chloe in so long!  We all hugged for at least thirty seconds and then broke.  I then realized they had shirts that matched mine and it was so awesome!

"I wouldn't miss my beat friend's birthday!" Chloe exclaimed.  We laughed and then my mom cleared her throat to get our attention. 

"On this very special Valentine's Day birthday, we will all be going: Mini Golfing, Go-Kart Racing, Out to lunch, the movies, and finishing off the day with shopping.  We will then return to the Lawrence household for cake and presents, followed by an epic sleepover."

We all squealed with excitement. Mom hurried around to get us older girls out the door for my birthday adventure.  Mom's friend, Emma, yeah Emma Stone, was gonna take the younger girls out  today until we got back tonight.

We piled into Mom's car and jammed out to the various artists on the way to the golf course and go kart track. 

"Hey, listen, they're about to do the celebrity birthdays!" Tessa exclaimed and mom turned up the radio.

"And a very happy thirteenth birthday to Genesis Lawrence!  JLaw has a teenager now and we can only expect the fun that is gonna bring her."

We all laughed at the comment and then went back to jamming out to Justin Timberlake.  "Hey mom, it's your first love!" I joked.  "Silence you." She glared, trying to pretend to be serious.  She failed epically.
