Mia had started heading back as soon as Jonathan had woken up, and as she neared the residence she suddenly felt nervous, like she just knew something was about to happen. She walked right into the house and headed up to her room. She was barely surprised to see Isabelle in there sitting on her bed like she was waiting, but as soon as Jace, Alec, Clary, and Simon walked in she knew the questions were about to start.
"So we wanted to talk to you about something before just assuming. We figured that since you've always been there for all of us when we needed you that we should be on your side until we were sure." Started Isabelle, of course.
Mia nodded. "Ask whatever you need to."
Isabelle looked to the others. Simon stepped forward. "Do you know that guy that was pretending to be Sebastian?"
Mia sighed. Hoping they would let her explain. "Yes."
They all gasped in shock and stepped back. Even Isabelle, who no longer seemed to want to be near her, as if she had betrayed them.
Mia stood up quickly. "Just please let me explain before." she pleaded. Reluctantly they all seemed to settle a bit.
"Why didn't you tell us? He tried to kill us!" exclaimed Jace angrily.
"He is just doing what he believes is the right thing because that is all he was raised upon." Mia argued.
"Who raised him?" asked Clary, the most questions would come from her. Mia just knew it.
Mia sighed. "Valentine."
"How? He was raising us in the same house. That makes no sense." Jace exclaimed, clearly frustrated and confused.
"He was somewhere else. That was where Valentine always took me. I can finally tell you why we were sent away." Said Mia.
Jace looked at her wanting answers but also not wanting the truth in case it hurt too much. "Explain."
"The first time Valentine took me to the other manor it was just for basic training and language lessons. I had no clue that any other boy existed until one day while Valentine had left me there as he went to check on you and I came across Jonathan and after that day we would hang out whenever valentine left. Then we had to start training together, valentines orders. But I didn't know about what he had been through, he told me his story and I felt for him. Then I slowly began developing feelings for him and just knew I was screwed. Then we kissed and valentine saw and I should've fought but I didn't and now Jonathan is like this." Mia explained feeling tears as she remembered those past memories.
"Wait so he wasn't always like that?" asked Clary and Mia shook her head.
Mia smiled at the memories of the sweet and charming Jonathan she once knew. "Believe it or not he used to pick flowers for me and tell me jokes. He was my childhood best friend and my love all at once."
"Love? You're actually in love with that guy? He tried to kill us!" argued Simon.
"Again. He wasn't always like that, underneath all of that is a guy who is a good guy. We just need to help him." Mia growled out defensively.
"Mia what if he doesn't want to be helped or he can't get better after all those years?" asked Clary.
"Who would you choose then?" asked Jace determined.
Mia looked at her brother as if he had gone crazy. "Why would you even ask that kind of question?"
"For the same reason you just replied with that question instead of a straight answer." said Alec with his arms crossed.
Mia's heart raced at the thought of having to choose between them. She shook her head. "I won't answer that until you can promise me you won't go to the clave with this information."
"I can't promise that Mia and you know it." Said Alec.
Mia stood up ready to leave. "Then I guess you will see when the time comes." she replied before she stormed out and quickly headed back to the place she was before. She went inside and found herself in the music room standing in the doorway as the moonlight from the large window cast it's light upon the black grand piano. "Why did I have to leave you behind?" she whispered as the memories in this room played out in her mind like a movie, she watched her younger self with Jonathan and smiled with every passing memory, while she was unaware of the boy she loved watching her with regret while he thought of how he was going to keep their relationship going with all of this division. Oh what the forbidden love of dark angels and demons brings.
