It was two days before Quan's birthday party and we had to cancel it. It was more so Quan who cancelled the party.
I had tried to get him to just go ahead and enjoy himself but he refused. He wanted me by his side and I was unable to be because Juju was sick with chicken pox.
He really didn't want to leave her side. I had to force him to go to work because both he and Juju were trying to get him to stay home with her.
*Ring ring* I rolled my eyes so hard at the sound of the bell that Quan had gotten for Juju. I didn't understand why he would ever do that.
"Mommy!!!"
Again, i rolled my eyes and got up to see what this little girl wanted with my life.
"Yes?"
"I'm itchy again."
"Okay. Do you want me to rub the chalomine lotion on you or do you want the oatmeal bath?"
"The lotion, just let me stink." She lay back on her pillow in a dramatic way.
"Girl, stop playing." I grabbed the lotion. "You will be taking a bath today."
As i began rubbing her skin with the lotion I could tell that she had something on her mind. "What's wrong?" i asked her.
"Do you think Quan will take me to the dance?"
"What dance?" I was confused as to what she was talking about.
"The Daddy/Daughter dance."
"Well, I don't know but I am sure if you ask him then he will say yes. You don't want to ask anybody else?"
"No."
"Okay when he stops by later then you can ask."
"Sounds good." She yawned.
I closed the lotion and sat it back on her night table.
"I'm all done. Do you need anything else?"
"Some popsicles would be nice."
"Not some but you can have one."
"Okay. One is good because too much sugar is bad for me." She sighed.
Little did she know that the popsicles were sugar free but I was going to let her believe that they weren't.
I left the room and went to wash my hands of the lotion before going to get her popsicle. When I got back to her room, she was knocked out cold. I left her and went to clean up around the house.
For a person to be sick, Juju sure had a lot of mess and toys around the place. While i was finishing up, my phone rang.It was my sister Jas.

"Hey Jas." I greeted.
"Hey boo, what you up to?"
"Just finished cleaning. What's up?" I took a seat on the couch.
"Nothing, just calling to check on you. How's my favorite niece?"
"She's your only niece but she's fine. She has the chicken pox so she's back there sleeping right now." I told her. "But I'm fine, thanks for asking."
"Siani, I ain't worrying about you. I heard you're with your college sweetheart."
I shook my head. "He is not my college sweetheart but yes, we are together."
"Child please. Anyway, when does Juju have a break from school?"
"Not until Christmas, why?"
"I want her for a few days."
