Chapter Three

"Here's your green tea ma'am and a slice of vanilla cake."

She's reviewing a murder case from one of their law firm's client. This is on a short notice kaya puspusan ang paghahanda niya para sa nalalapit na court hearing.

She elegantly took a sip of her green tea. This is one of the many things she'd learn on that etiquette class her parents insisted when she was a kid. Not that she don't like it, it's highly beneficial with her line of profession.

She sliced a little portion of the cake and took it on her mouth. Her eyes still on the monitor.

She was so engrossed with reviewing the statements of the witnesses when the chair infront of her is being pulled by someone.

She kept her poker face.

She grab the table napkin and gently wipe the sides of her lips.
Her voice is too precious for him.

Humugot ito ng malalim na hininga. Their eyes met.

She held this emotionless eyes and poker face. If you're a lawyer, this is definitely a must. At masasabi niyang talent niya iyon. Poker face is her normal look.

"We the sovereign Filipino people, imploring the aid of almighty God, in order to build a just and humane society and establish a government... that shall embody our ideals and aspirations, promote the common good, conserve and develop our patrimony, and secure to ourselves and our posterity, the blessings of independence and democracy... under the rule of law and a regime of truth... justice... freedom... love... equality and peace, do ordain and promulgate this constitution." Dire-diretso nitong saad.

She wanted to roll her eyes at him. It's just the preamble of the 1987 constitution. Piece of cake.

Easy as breathing.

"I came prepared." He grinned proudly.

"So?" Her face still on a poker one.

"I recited the preamble of the 1987 constitution... I am worthy of your time now." The stupid grin is still on his face.
