Chapter Twelve

She put her hair into a messy bun as she settled on her swivel chair. Hindi niya maiwasang mapa-buntong hininga. She just got a call from Sierra, Key is still in coma and no response yet. Kinailangan naring umuwi nito dahil may mga trabaho ding naghihintay dito, kaya si Rye at Therine na lang ang nandoon.

She opened her laptop, she still need to review the files for her court hearing tomorrow. Kakatapos lang ng isang hearing niya kanina at sa Belladona siya dumiretso dahil mas malapit ito sa location ng court room kanina.

And tomorrow is another case again. Ito iyong kaso sa lupa na ilang buwan na ring dinidinig sa korte. The ownership of the lot is in chaos. Iginigiit ng kabilang panig na sila ang rightful owner dahil sila ang kapamilya ng dating may-ari, samantalang ang kanyang kliyente naman ay may matibay na katibayan na nabili nito ang lupa. Napahilot siya sa kanyang sentido, kung tutuusin, matagal na sana niyang naipanalo ang kasong ito. Ang problema lang ay ayaw magpatalo ng kabilang panig. Laging naghahain ng motion for reconsideration kaya lalong tumatagal ang pagdinig. She sighed.

Her phone started ringing. Sa pag-aakalang si Sierra iyon at may nakalimutang sabihin... she answered the call without looking at the caller id.

"Yes, Sierra?" Bati niya habang tutok parin sa laptop.

"It's Iver." Said that husky voice.

Her lips formed into a thin line. "What is it, Iver?"

"What is it Iver?" Panggagaya nito sa pormal niyang boses. "What are you doing?"

"I'm in the middle of reviewing some files for a court hearing tomorrow and hear you are, disturbing me." Pangaral niya.

"You're in your condo? Do you want some food?"

"I'm in Belladona. Kaya kung iniisip mo na naman ang pagsulpot sa condo ko, patayin mo na ang ideyang yan."

He chuckled lightly. "But... I want to see you."

"Just go to sleep Iver, it's late."

"Yeah, it's late and you're still working."

Sumandal siya sa kanyang upuan. Hindi siya makapag-focus sa ginagawa dahil dito eh. "This is my normal."

"I'm leaving first thing tomorrow for the second leg of our tour." Nagpapaawa ang boses nito.

"Then go to sleep already." She said stating the obvious.

"But I want to see you." He whined like a kid.

"Just go to sleep, Iver. You're wasting both our time here."

"Im gonna miss you, baby." Masuyo nitong saad.

Hindi siya umimik.

He sighed. "Damn. I need to see you before I go. Be there in an hour."

"What?!"

"I'll be there in an hour."

"No, Iver. Just go to sleep." Saway niya. Kung bakit kasi nagkaroon ito ng access sa Belladona? Kaya ang lakas ng loob nito eh.

"I'll see you in a bit." With that he ended the call.

She groaned. Kung anu-ano talagang naiisip nito. For the next minutes she busied herself with work. Umaasang sana ay hindi matuloy si Iver.

Tutok na tutok siya sa pagbabasa nang magring ang kanyang phone. It's already eleven in the evening.

"I'm outside." Bungad ni Iver.

"Manigas ka diyan."

"Baby." She can hear the pout on his voice.

"May dala akong iced green tea latte and some green tea donuts for your midnight snack."
