Greg and Susan were both tempted to sleep late the morning after Greg's birthday party. They probably would have, except for being awakened to the sound of a baby crying, not far outside their room. Greg arose wondering if someone brought Olivia into the house through the cave. He went to check, while Susan went directly to the nursery to find Melody crying in her bed.
"Oh sweetheart, what's wrong?" Susan asked her daughter as she lifted her from her small bed and carried her to the rocking chair.
"Mom, mom, momma," Melody warbled as she clung to Susan.
"It's okay," Susan said as she held her close and began to rock in a soothing manner.
"No okay," Melody told her.
"What's not okay?" Susan asked. "Were you dreaming?"
"Bo bo, go away," Melody told her.
"Bo bo ... who is bo bo?" Susan wondered.
"No Bobo," Melody frowned. "Belbo."
"Belbo?" Susan questioned, obviously not understanding.
"I believe what she is trying to say is Belbel rather than Belbo, Susan."
Susan looked up to see Greg standing in Melody's doorway.
"Belbel," Melody repeated, looking pleased he understood.
"Who is Belbel?" Susan asked.
"The question is not 'who is Belbel', but what?" Greg said. "Belbel is a known fallen angel, spoken of in the Talmud."
Susan stared at him. "You mean ... the adversary?"
"Or one of his legion," Greg said.
"Melody knows them by name?" Susan said in awe.
"She may ... or it may be a coincidence she would call one out like that," Greg said.
"Why would she do that, Greg?" Susan asked sounding distressed.
"We know Melody is of the Lord. We know she is His servant, and dwells primarily in the heavenly realm between lives," Greg reminded her. "It could be that she dreams of the dealings in heaven while she is here on Earth."
"Then you don't believe this Belbel, or whoever he is, is here?" Susan asked.
"I think the adversary has been doing his best to influence this household," Greg told her. "We know that is true ... whatever the name of the particular servant he deploys here might be."
"I know I pray to keep them away," Susan told him.
"No Belbel, Mama," Melody told her seriously shaking her head. "No Olive for Belbel."
Susan stared at her little girl.
"You think the adversary is after the baby?" Susan said aghast.
"There is a reason Ruth and I are so concerned Olivia has remained unnamed for so long," Greg told her.
"Have you told Alan about this?" Susan asked.
"It is his and Cindy's decision, Susan. Despite the danger you and I know of, as Olivia's father, it is Alan's responsibility to see to the spiritual safety of his household," Greg said. "No one can do it for him."
"No, I suppose not," Susan said with a frown. "But what I can do is to pray. Who knows? Maybe Olivia will cry less at night, once she is named."
Greg cocked his head. "I had the opportunity to speak to Marc Cohen quite a while last night. He and his wife will be at his son's house in Los Angeles for Passover through Thursday. They are going home the same day as Alan and Cindy and will observe the remaining nights with Sarah's parents there."
