The second week of January was a week of transition for everybody. Greg and Neil left before it was light on Friday morning at the end of the week: Greg to go to the studio, and Neil to begin packing the larger of the two vehicles they would be driving to Colorado. That left Susan, Cathy, and Rosemary with the family at the Abernathy's house at home. They received a call when Greg and Neil were ready to leave the Zimmerman's an hour before noon, and calls nightly after that, reporting on their progress for the day. Then on Saturday, Cathy went home to see her husband off and to help him make plans for when they would come home. She was back on Sunday afternoon after Leo's flight left, just about the time Susan received Greg's call announcing they'd arrived.
"How does it look?" Susan asked curiously.
"It is beautiful, Susan. It is cold and there is snow on the ground, but not nearly as much as there was at Tahoe the year we stayed there," Greg said.
"How is their place?" Susan asked.
"It's a townhouse, with a small back yard, which is totally covered in snow. Neil will need to buy a snow shovel right away. In fact, he's gone to the hardware store to get one before we try to unload. I'm inside their place, waiting for it to warm up, looking through a box marked 'tools' to try to find a screwdriver so we can put the headboard back on their bed," Greg said.
"Leo should be there soon. Cathy said he left for his flight early this morning. I think his plane was supposed to land about noon," Susan said.
"I believe we will need his help," Greg said. "Much of their furniture is from Ikea. They took it apart to move it, and none of it has been put back together. That will have to be done before they can hope to unpack anything."
There was a pause at the end of the line, then Greg said, "Ah ... I found it."
"The screwdriver?" Susan asked.
"Yes ... and Neil is back. I need to go. He needs my help," Greg said.
"Be safe," Susan admonished.
"I will be ... as safe as it is possible to be. I'll call you again tomorrow," Greg promised.
"Thank you. I love you, Greg," Susan said.
"I love you too," Greg said, and he hung up the phone.
"Are they there?" Rosemary asked.
"Yes. They just pulled up in front of your place a little while ago. They got inside, but they haven't unloaded anything yet. It sounds like they need to shovel the front walk first," Susan told her.
Rosemary frowned. "We don't have a snow shovel."
"You do now. Neil just went to get one," Susan said.
"Really," Cathy said as the three women worked together to fold laundry. "Leo isn't used to snow."
"Didn't Dad grow up in Chicago, Mom?" Rosemary asked.
"Yes ... but he hated the snow. He couldn't wait to move to California to avoid it," Cathy told her daughter. "Is there much on the ground?"
"Only a few inches," Susan said. "But it's made the front walk slippery, which is why they want to clear it before they unload."

The next time any of them heard from the men was later that evening. Leo arrived safely. Both cars were unloaded, and the headboard was now attached to Neil and Rosemary's bed. However, they had yet to find the linens and it was dinner time, so they were going in search of pizza.
