Azrael and his companion stepped through the veil that separated the Earth from the light.

"Welcome!" the voice of the Lord boomed, loud enough it shook the Earth. Deep inside the planet's crust, the Earth rumbled in reply.

"I deliver your messenger unto you, oh Lord," Azrael said.

"Be careful you leave behind those who are not ready to come behind," the Angel of the Lord cautioned.

Azrael looked behind to find a soul looking after them, peering through the veil he'd just come through, witnessing the welcome of the messenger called Angel by the Lord.

"It is not your time," he told the Lord's faithful servant.

"Until the Father says, I will not come," the soul agreed.

"I know you are grieving, My child. But know this. The soul you know as Melody, whose name is recorded in the Book of Life as misty Angel, is home. I am her Father and she is My child, just as much as she is yours, and she is welcome here. I long ago passed judgement on her soul and yet she continues to serve Me, doing my bidding to forward my plan in whatever way she can. Now, with her return, reflect on the work she has done for me. She has left you keys you can use in your work in the world. Be at peace," the Lord said.

And he sent his servant back to the Earth to grieve, closing the veil behind her.

"Already your faithful, your servants have endured so much," the Angel of the Lord observed.

"And for now, they will endure a little more. My faithful, Jalyn and Cadence have done extraordinarily well. They have not only proven my argument with Lucifer, they now work to extend it. Even they see there will be a role for faith which overshadows religion after they are gone," the Lord said.

"Is this the reason they are not yet ready?" the Angel of the Lord asked.

"This is the reason," the Lord agreed. "Their family needs them. More will succeed if they linger a bit longer."

"I can still thwart their plans," Lucifer said, appearing in their midst.

"You may try, but not today. Today we of the heavens will rejoice," the Lord said. "Our Angel is home. The seeds of faith she has left behind will grow. Given a little time and nurturing, faith will develop for many according to my plan, until it is their time too to join us here at home."

"May the Heavens rejoice in the plans of the Lord," the angels sang, and misty Angel took her place among them, eager to lend her voice to their chorus until the day came when it was time to bring her loved ones home.
