Greg walked with his niece, nephews, Jessie, Melody and Zack to the part of the cave beneath the cottage. It was evening, after supper following the close of the Sabbath, and Greg decided to go with the young people when they asked to make a mini-excursion into the cave. He followed them down the passageway, down the first two sets of wooden steps, stopping on the ledge above where the young people stood behind the rail looking down. He held back, listening, intending to observe without interfering.

Zack flipped on the lights from the switch near the top of the first ladder while everyone else looked into the darkness beyond the rail. When he did, the ledge at the base of the first ladder suddenly came into view.

"Is that where we're going?" Adam asked looking down.

"If we're only going to the bottom of the first ladder, then yeah," Zack told him. "Are we?"

"Papa said we're not supposed to go any farther," Jessie explained. She glanced back at Greg who nodded, but otherwise didn't say anything.

"Why? What are you trying to do?" Zack asked.

"Remember," Megan told him.

"She has a lot to remember," Oliver said.

Zack thought for a moment. "The Master's House?"

"How did you know?" Adam asked while Caleb and Oliver listened.

"I guessed. Lots of people seem to remember it. I think lots of people must have gone there once upon a time. I know I've been there too ... so has my girlfriend, Kelly. Jessie was there twice in one of her past lives," Zack told him. "We've met a lot of people who have."

"Why?" Adam asked.

"Why what?" Zack asked.

"Why was Jessie there?" Adam said.

"She was there with her parents as a baby the first time. They were looking for some sort of secret Jewish community or something," Zack said vaguely. "I don't know the details, but that's what I heard."

"Quite correct," Greg said.

"What about the second time?" Adam asked.

"We were running away. It was after I was grown up. I was married to Egg ... and we were going to have a baby ... only the king didn't like Jewish people anymore, so we were moving away. Zack was my cousin, and he and Cara came with us," Jessie explained.

Megan cocked her head. "I don't think that's what happened to us. I remember Melody though ... but I think she was called something else ..."

"Misty Angel," Melody provided.

"I remember that!" Adam exclaimed.

"I do too," Megan agreed.

"That sounds like a description rather than a name," Caleb remarked.

"I know, but that was her name," Megan said emphatically. "I'm sure of it. But I don't think we were running away when we were there."

"We weren't. Other people were ... we were trying to help them at first ... before ... then after, we were trying to defend the Master's house ... don't you remember?" Adam insisted.

"We were?" Megan asked in confusion.

"Why don't you remember?" Adam asked again. "I'll never forget ... all the fighting after the men with the swords came ... they might have been soldiers, I'm not sure. There were less than a dozen of them, but at the time it seemed like a lot to me. I also remember later ... after that ... all the people who came to Papa's quarry through the Master's House were trying to get away. A lot of them came about that same time. Jessie and her family must have been among them."
