It looked like the waiting place, only different. It was a place Susan saw on occasion in her dreams.

Melody was there. So was the Lord. Susan could hear Him, as clear as day. They were talking about the Lord's faithful and what could be done to prevent the adversary from taking advantage of grief and doubt in the days ahead, to prevent the Lord's servants from being led astray. She felt like she was eavesdropping, listening to the Lord discuss His plans, learning more about how Melody was a part of it.

"Do you know Daisy?" one of the angels asked Melody. "Your sister asked while you were here."

"Yes," Melody said. "Is it important for her to know?"

"You are an enabler. It is your task to support the faithful where you can. They can do the rest, but you must be the catalyst to enable them to act. Faith is their armor. Through Me, they are empowered to complete their task. But with Lucifer as their adversary, their purpose is not nearly as clear to them as yours is to you. They do not all understand the lessons I send, and so fail to move forward with their part of the plan," the Lord told her. "If they do not succeed, they can not join us here."

"Then I need to go back," Melody concluded. "I need to help them."

"For a little while. I keep my promises, my child. You will not stay long in the company of men. Azrael will come for you soon. You have been missed here in the choirs at home," the Lord said.

"I like to sing," Melody replied. "I taught Papa to sing."

"Your Papa sings for Me. It is why he is so reluctant to sing for man before he comes home, but he must. Music is one of the many ways the people of the Earth hear Me," the Lord said. "And he will not sing alone when he is here. Cadence knows how. She will sing with him too."

Susan listened in wonder at the conversation she heard, but it was abruptly interrupted when Lucifer strode in.

"You do not follow your own rules!" he declared in protest. "Your messenger is here, before you bring her home. You allow your faithful to listen in, hearing from You directly not only what the fate of her daughter's soul will be, but what you have planned for her and her mate when they come home! These things should be known by faith alone. She should not know so clearly Your will and plan for her soulmate's life."

"My faithful has found favor with me. She serves me in all things. It is for this reason I have allowed her to know these things, to ease her suffering if not her pain when I bring my child home. Separation from a child is a difficult thing. But know this, it will not be permanent. Even when I call my Angel home, she will wait for you. She will continue to serve her purpose here: she will be my messenger to bring my faithful home, because you will dream of her, just like you do today. You and your mate will hear her sing, even while she is away," the Lord proclaimed.

"I will continue to get in their way," Satan promised.

"I never doubted it," the Lord said.

Meanwhile, while the two argued, Melody's eyes found Susan. She smiled in recognition, exactly as she always did, and yet somehow it was different ... it was more. It was as if Susan saw only part of who Melody was during her time on Earth. Here she saw the depth of the person she was.

"I give you another day, but not more than two to help those you leave behind. Make the most of it," the Lord said.

"Thank you," Susan replied.

"Momma," Melody said, and Susan's view of the waiting place dissolved.
