Kerberos!Lance bc I'm in love with CastleSL's story on Archive of Our Own. Go read it! Also the art for the pic isn't mine. This story was inspired by the idea that CastleSL had and differs from the ending of their story. Again, go read it!
And now for the story. It differs greatly from the original plot of the show, so don't be surprised if large things are changed.
Lance took a deep breath and pushed himself out of bed. It wasn't his bed, but it smelled familiar. Like someone he used to know.
"Lance, you're awake!" Shiro smiled at him.
"I... Takashi?" He asked. Shiro looked overjoyed and terrified at the same time.
"Yeah, it's me. Are you okay?" Lance shuddered. After all he went through, he'd never be okay. Never. But for the time being, he was functional.
"I guess so." Lance tried to think of something to say. "There's so much that I don't remember..." That was the only thing he was sure about. He remembered bits and pieces, but not enough to actually make a summary of what happened. There was this horrible thing called Zarkon, and the arena...
"That's okay. You probably went through a lot." Keith stared at Lance's metal arm. It was terrifying how real it looked. Obviously, it was metal, but it was surprising realistic. It was as if a sculpture of his arm had been mounted on his shoulder.
"Yeah, I..." Lance gasped quietly as a memory flashed before his eyes. He saw Matt, injured on the floor... And a sword in his own hands. "That's the understatement of the year." Hunk chuckled.
"Same old Lance, I guess." He said, patting his friend on the shoulder.
"Hey, uh, can I have some alone time?" Lance asked. Shiro nodded.
"You seem like you've been through hell and back. Of course you can." He led the others out of the room. Lance stared at them, specifically at the small girl with short hair. She seemed to hold herself like someone he knew once... Someone he'd met only a few times. But he knew her, that he was sure of.
Lance started by pulling on the outfit that was left by his bed. It was similar to the clothes he would have worn before his unlikely acceptance into the Kerberos mission. A pair of faded gray jeans, a blue and white shirt, a plain black and white jacket and a pair of black, white and blue boots. When he had that on, he almost felt like his old self.
Finally, he walked out of the small bedroom and into the main area of the small building he was in. It seemed to be a shack of sorts, out in the desert.
"...sort of energy. But it's even stronger now." Keith pointed to a chart, and Hunk grinned.
"Dude, is that the energy signal?" He asked. Keith nodded. "I could totally make a Geiger counter with that. Maybe find the source of this weird energy?"
"Sounds good." Shiro smiled, then looked over at Lance. "You look good in that."
"Yeah, nice digs." Hunk added. Lance smiled. It was if nothing had changed.
"So, what's this about a 'weird energy'?"

The five teens entered the cave and stared at the carvings decorating the walls.
"Wow." Lance muttered, placing his left hand on one of the carvings. It lit up blue and all of the other carvings followed.
"They've never done that before." Keith stuttered. The floor opened up under everyone, sending them down a waterfall. Pidge clung to Hunk and screamed. Everyone screamed.
"Holy shit." Pidge whispered as they reached the bottom, soaked, scared and (for a certain soon-to-be blue paladin) ready to go again.
"Language." Shiro laughed. Pidge stuck her tongue out.
