(Klance)

When I was a young boy...

Lance was breathing heavily. He couldn't feel his left arm or shoulder, but he saw the blood dripping down to the floor of the awful galra ship. He had to leave.

My father took me into the city...

Lance was running towards his lion, the only one there... The others had left and couldn't get to his lion. They assumed him dead, and rightly so. It was a miracle Lance's heart was still beating, that he was still alive.

To see a marching band...

Lance heard some battle cries of soldiers behind him, rushing towards him and and shooting. He had to keep going - the prisoners from his cell block were near his lion but the particle barrier was up!

He said, "Son, when you grow up, would you be the savior of the broken, the beaten and the damned?"

Lance had to get there, he had to save them... He had to save them. He ran towards the blue lion and knocked on the particle barrier. She purred urgently and let him and the prisoners in before firing at the galra hoards.

He said, "Will you defeat them - your demons, and all the non-believers? The plans that they have made..."

Lance needed to run, now that the galra who were chasing him were taken care of. He piloted blue using only his right arm, trying to ignore the spikes of pain he was receiving from his left arm every few seconds.

Blue opened up a wormhole and he soared through, appearing right next to the castle.

"Because one day, I'll leave you. A phantom, to lead you in the summer. To join the black parade..."

Lance gasped in pain as blue settled down in her hangar. At his silent command, blue opened her mouth and let the prisoners out. Lance followed carefully, holding his left arm to his side. When he got to the floor, he fell, and blue picked him up by the scruff of his neck. Or, really, the back of his armor.

Sometimes I get the feeling she's watching over me, and other times I feel like I should go

Lance smiled at his lion and took the prisoners towards the control room. The castle seemed to be on autopilot, and everyone was asleep. He took the prisoners to any empty bedrooms he could find and told them to get some rest. That they were free.

And through it all, the rise and fall, the bodies in the streets...

Lance had done it. He had escaped, he was alive. Everything was okay, except for his arm. But he wouldn't die because of that. He made his way to Shiro's room and knocked on the door. He didn't know how the healing pods worked, but Shiro might. And he thought Shiro should know he wasn't dead.

The tired black paladin opened the door almost immediately, with red eyes and tears evident on his face.

"L-Lance?" He gasped, touching the blue paladin's shoulder. "But, y-you..."

"I'm not dead." Lance shrugged. "But, my arm..." He gestured towards his mangled left arm, which had almost stopped bleeding.

"Oh, shi-" Shiro bit his lip. "I'll get Allura. Can you wait for us in the infirmary?"

"Yeah, okay." Lance placed his right hand over his heart as Shiro ran down the hallway. He felt it beating, quickly and unevenly. He took a few deep breaths and walked towards the infirmary, hoping it would be better in there.

A few moments later, Allura, Shiro and Coran rushed in. Coran immediately started prepping a healing pod, frantically typing something into a holo screen that had appeared in front of the pod.
