"Look, I can explain." Keith slid off the couch, taking about six as assorted pots and pans down with him. "I tried to make breakfast, but I couldn't find the eggs."
"So you pulled out all of our pots and pans?" Shiro groaned.
"I was looking for the eggs!"
"Did you check the fridge?"
"Well, yes."
"And they weren't there?"
"No, they were."
"So, explain the pans."
"I can't."
"Are you trying to come out or something? I don't care if you're pansexual. I know you like dick."
"First of all, no. Second of all, how?!" Keith grabbed two pots and stacked them in each other.
"What the fuck are all these pans doing?" Lance mumbled. Keith and Shiro jumped - they hadn't heard him walk in.
"I was trying to make breakfast." Keith began after a moment.
"Oh! Could you not find the eggs?"
"How the fuck?" Shiro pinched the bridge of his nose and walked into the kitchen. He came back about thirty seconds later with three cartons of eggs. "Here. Eggs." Lance took them and opened the first carton carefully.
"Keith, I found the eggs." He whispered.
"I don't understand and I'm not going to attempt to." Shiro muttered. He sighed and walked out of the room, leaving Lance and Keith with three cartons of eggs and a pile of pots and pans.
Once Shiro's door slammed shut, the two burst out laughing.
"That was genius!" Keith grinned. He was so glad that Lance was warming up to him after the whole texting incident.
"Thanks. I do I every time I stay at someone's house for the first time. Either the host or the parents get ready confused." Lance started gathering some of the pots and pans that had fallen to the floor. "So, can I make eggs?"
"If you want. I think you know where everything is by now." Keith chuckled. He had gone to check on Lance last night, not expecting to find him waiting for him with a plan to prank Shiro.
"Awesome." Lance scurried off into the kitchen. Keith tried to remember what exactly had happened the night previous. He remembered being invited to game night, and going because Lance would be there. He remembered going and looking for Lance because Hunk was worried about his unannounced absence - "If Lance couldn't come, he'd tell us!"
After that, they went to the park, then to the school. Keith was checking the football field... Maybe he fell, or something. His head was still hurting, even if it was a slight throbbing. He wanted to ask Lance, but he remembered one thing. Lance's terrified blue eyes. Something was covering his mouth and his eyes were terrified...
What had happened that Lance seemed so quickly recovered from?
°•°
Lance sat on Keith's bed, staring at the wall. He couldn't see anything else except for Lotor, walking towards him, smiling cruelly, stalking his prey...
He couldn't understand why Lotor was so fucking obsessed with him. He had told him the first time that he wanted Lance, not just sexually. He had said some beautiful things. He told of how he watched how Lance acted from afar and wanted that happiness in his life.
Lance was no expert on these kind of things, but usually high schoolers didn't say this kind of stuff. Not that he would know - he hadn't been in any relationships for a long time. He thought at first that Lotor was a nice guy, but boy, was he wrong.
Because the next thing Lotor did was stick his hands down Lance's pants.
Just the memory of the event was enough to send Lance into fetal position. He curled up on Keith's bed and held back tears. He wished that Keith hadn't seen him so vulnerable last night. He wished Shiro didn't have to save him from Lotor every five minutes. He wished Lotor didn't exist.
Lance didn't know what to do. He didn't want to cry on Keith's bed and upset him, but he needed to cry. He needed to talk, to let everything out and just breathe. Ever since the first incident with Lotor, he wasn't able to breathe. Everything just changed. Everything became about hiding what had happened, hiding his vulnerability.
"Lance...?" Keith nudged the door open a crack and poked his head in. Lance looked up as Keith slowly walked in.
"Yeah?"
"Are you okay? You haven't come out since this morning." Keith sat down carefully on the bed next to Lance. The Cuban teen hung his head.
"Can I talk to you?" He asked quietly. "I need someone to talk to, about last night."
"Sure. Though, what exactly happened last night? I don't remember a while lot after getting down to the football field." Keith studied Lance's face. Even in the dark, he could see his vibrant blue eyes.
"Well..." Shit, how could Keith not remember?! He wasn't up to telling him. He didn't want to, but he had to. Keith had to know. "You know Lotor, right?"
"Yeah, principal's son, right?"
"Well, I was down sitting on the bleachers by the field and... And Lotor came down there." Lance gulped. He couldn't do this, why did he have to do this?! "He..." He couldn't do it. He couldn't say it.
"What did he do?" Keith asked gently. He was starting to understand, though. If he was right, then Lotor was going to die. Slowly and painfully.
"He touched me." Lance choked out. "I tried to yell for help, but he made Anna hold me down, and then..."
"It's okay, Lance. You don't have to say anything else." Keith wrapped Lance in a hug. "Was this the first time it happened?"
"N-no." Oh, Lotor was so dead. Keith would kill him a thousand different ways. He understood now why Lance was so annoying at school. He just wanted to cover up his vulnerable side. Completely understandable, after going through something like that.
"I don't know why I got so mad at you." Lance muttered. "I just didn't need anything else in my life going wrong, and I think I just took it out on you. You were just being honest."
"No, I was being a Class-A dickhead." Keith chuckled. He hugged Lance tighter.
"You're not like that right now." Lance felt tears coming to his eyes. There was more to talk about, but... It could wait. Keith wiped the tears from Lance's face and leaned into the crook of his neck.
"You're safe now." He promised. "You're always safe with me.
