The Ride Home

Daryl POV
...................
I woke up bright and early this morning so we could go home.I lean over to Jesus's ear and whisper "Come on baby get up we gotta go home."

"Noooo." He moans pulling the blanket above his head.

"Wake up!" I say flipping him on his back and straddling him. I pulled the blanket down and kissed him.

He smirked at me. "Why should I get up?"

"Because I asked you to." I say smirking.

"Your not my mother." He says.

"I may not be your mother.." I pause to attack his lips once more. "But I'm your daddy." I continue as I wink at him.

"Ok you win. Get off so I can get dressed." He says laughing.

"Umm now I kinda don't wanna get up. I wanna do........something else. Something that involves you getting... undressed." I smirk at him as I start tugging at his pants.

"One make up your damn mind. And two not now cause...." He says smiling and nodding his head towards the couch.

I hear a little giggle come from that direction. I look to see her looking at us with a grin. "What are you grinning at?" I ask getting off of Jesus and pulling on my shirt.

"You two ." She giggles.

I just rolled my eyes playfully and laughed. "Alright kiddo get ready cause we're leaving in half hour."

"Yes sir." She says sleepily.

"Don't call me sir." I say.

"Oh right (yawn) only Jesus can call you sir." She giggles.

I felt my cheeks get hot. I don't know what to say about that. I heard Jesus laughing behind me. "Just don't call me sir." I say turning away quickly to start packing.

"Yes ma'am." She says as she helps Jesus pack.

"Why'd you say ma'am?" I heard Jesus chuckle to her.

"Well...he said not to call him sir." She said giving him a look like duuu.

"Never mind....... just say sir." I chuckle as I shake my head.

"Ok." She says yawning.

Time skip... 20 minutes later

We headed out to the Barrington house to see Maggie and ask if we could take a car. "Of course. Glenn and I will come back for it in a couple of days or y'all can keep it. We've got plenty." She says with a smile.

"Thanks Maggie." Jesus says.

She walks us out to the car to send us off. Before we get in she hugs Jesus and I. "Be careful out there." She says to me.

"We will." I say back to her.

She walks to Maddie and puts her hands on her shoulders. "You keep these two straight you hear me." Maggie says hugging her.

"Yes ma'am."

Then we loaded the car and started the long trip home.

Jesus POV

It wasn't long before Maddie was asleep on the backseat. "Damn she's already out." Daryl smiled as he drove down the empty roads.

"I imagine she hasn't slept in a couple of days." I say looking back at her and smiling.

She laid there knocked out cold with her head leaning against the window. It made me think of those late nights when she couldn't sleep and she'd come and sit on the couch with me. Leaning her head on my shoulder and drifting to sleep. Then I'd carry her back up to her room. She did this all the time, but after her mom died she did it a lot more. She would have nightmares and dreams about her mother and she'd wake up in tears unable to go back to sleep.

"Yeah I guess your right." Daryl said knocking me back to reality.

"Yeah." I say laying my head against the windows.

I felt Daryl grab my hand that rested on my thigh. I could feel a smile come across my face as he held my hand. He made me feel safe. "You know?" Daryl says keeping his eye on the road. "She's funny." He continues as a smile creeps on his face.

"Yeah she always has been." I chuckle.

"I still can't believe she said that earlier." Daryl says laughing. "I was laughing historically on the inside."

"I can believe it. I saw you blushing." I laugh with him.

"Whatever," he says blushing again. "Look up ahead."

I look up the road to see the gates of Alexandria. "Home sweet home" Daryl says with a smile.

"Home sweet home."
