Early the next morning. Maybe 4 am.

Daryl POV
......................
BOOM!CRACK!

"SHIT!" I heard Jesus yell as he jumped at the notices outside. I listen to the storm that rumbled outside and just pulled him closer to me.

"Damn. That light rain done turned into a storm." I say peeking out the window. Lighting flashed in every direction as thunder followed. Jesus sat with a look of discomfort on his face. "You ok?" I ask smiling softly.

"Yeah. It just caught me off guard." He said nuzzling closer to me.

"Ok. Your sure?"

"Yeah."

"Well I'll be right back ok." I say getting up.

"Where are you going?" He said pouting.

"I'm gonna check on the kid. Make sure she's alive. I mean ok. Make sure she's ok." I quickly corrected myself.

He just shook his head and laughed. "Ok. D.do you want me to go to?"

"I know how to handle a kid." I say smiling at him as I walk out the door and down the hall.

I slowly open her door. She sat there on her bed reading a little book. Not even realizing I was there. "Hey." I say to her.

"Oh hey Daryl. What's up?" She smiles.

"Just making sure your ok. Strong storm coming through."

"Yeah im good. Just got up about an hour ago. Figured I'd do something a little productive. " she said picking up her book and waving it with a smile.

"Whatcha reading?" I ask her.

"Precious Bones."

"What's that about?"

"I don't really know yet. But it's good so far." She chuckles. "You should read it." She says going through her bag and tossing me another copy.

"Oh good. I was looking for something to read when I have nothing to do. Wait why do you have two?" I smile.

"Don't tell Jesus. I took one of them from his library back at the hilltop. I had one figured why not have two." She giggled.

I shook my head. "Your secrets safe with me." I smile. "You sure your ok?"

"Yeah I'm good." She smiles.

"Ok. Well as long as your ok. You know where to find me and or Jesus if you need us." I say as I start to shut the door.

"Oh wait Daryl."

"Yeah?" I say opening the door again.

"Is Jesus ok? He doesn't like thunder storms." She says with worry.

"I'll keep him company. He'll be ok." I smile.

"Ok. I'll talk to you later." She smiled going back to her book.

"Ok. Talk you you later."

I close the door and I walk back into our room. When I walk in, Jesus sat there hold a pillow tightly to him. I sat my book down on the dresser and got in bed. I sat next to him and put my arm around him, pulling him close. "It'll be alright." I say.

"She told you didn't she?" He says.

"She asked me if you were alright and said that you didn't like storms."

"Yeah. I don't like storms to much. I can deal with it but I don't like them." He said.

"Tough guy like you, afraid of storms." I say as I chuckle a little to myself.

"Everyone's afraid of something." He says looking up at me.

I sat and thought about it for a second. "Yeah I guess your right."

"What are you afraid of?" He asks.

"I'm afraid of losing you....and her." I say kissing his head.

"You don't have to worry about that." He smiles, laying his head on my shoulder.

"I know. But I just have that fear. Shit happens you know."

"Don't worry. I'm not going anywhere and nether is she. Not without you." He says jumping into my lap, laying his head on my chest and falling asleep.

I wrap my arms around him and rested my chin on his shoulder. I soon fell asleep with him.
