Out Once Again

Daryl POV

I reclined the seat back a little so I could try and relax. I wanna be with him. I upset him when I left. I saw it in his eyes before the gate closed and made him disappear out of my sights. "What are we goin on this run for anyway?" I asked Rick.

"Negan took everything the last time around. We need to restock." He said keeping he eyes on the road.

"(sigh)ok." I say looking out the window as we drove. Walkers went by like a blur. As did the trees and the buildings.

My mind becomes clouded with questions . "Is he ok?" "What's he doin?"

"You good man ?" Rick asked giving me a side look and then looked back to the road.

"I'm ok. My minds just runnin." I explain.

"Oh I understand completely dude ." He said looking at me with a smile.

I smile back and look out the window again. We turned into an abandoned mall parking lot. "Jesus found this place a while back. But with everything goin on we haven't made it here yet. So now we're in desperate need. Figured this would be a good spot to check." Rick said turning the car off and getting out. I followed suit.

"I'll check on this end and you get the other end. It'll take less time."

"Okay." I said as I walked to my end and he walked to his.

My mind finally calmed down a bit as I walked through the silence. I picked up a few things and headed back. I need to get home. I walked and walked until something caught my eye. When I looked... A jewelry store? Something drew me to it. I walked in and just looked around a little bit.

There was plenty of stuff that was left behind. Necklaces,bracelets, and...rings. "A ring?" I said aloud as I looked at a simple, but beautiful ring. The band was gold with three little diamonds on the top. I picked it up. "Wow.."

"It's beautiful." I heard someone say behind me. I turned to see Rick his arms crossed in front of him and a smile on his face. "He would love that.."

"You really think so?"

"Do it Daryl. Pop the question when he least expects it."

I smiled, closed to box it was in, and put it in my pocket. "Did you find anything?"

"I did." He said turning to walk out. "Let's go."

The ride home was slow. But. The thought of me making this official made me smile. He's finally gonna be mine.
