Two days later

Jesus POV

"What a beautiful day." I say aloud as the four of us walk through the streets of Alexandria.

"Yeah...it is." Maddie replies as she smiles at Carl who held her hand.

Daryl nods with a smile as he held mine. We all walked together and chatted. This was really nice. To see everyone happy. "Nothing could ruin this." Carl smiles. "Good times with good people." He says looking at Maddie and kissing her cheek.

"ALERT ALERT! SAVIORS! EVERYONE NEGANS HERE!" I hear Rosita yell from the guard tower.

"Shit." I say letting go of Daryl's hand.

"Ok that might ruin it." Carl says frowning.

"Go Daryl." I tell him.

He nods and looks at Maddie. "Come on kid your coming with me." He says.

"Why?"

"Just come on." He says grabbing her by her arm and pulling her with him.

"Bye guys." She says as they run out of sight leaving Carl and I standing alone.

Daryl's POV

We ran out the back and into the woods. When we were far enough away we walked instead. "Where are we going?" she asks.

"You'll see. We're almost there." I say as the small cabin that I always hide in came into view. I pulled my crossbow up and opened the door slowly just in case anyone or anything was in there, which there wasn't.

"Come in. It's clear." I say waving her in.

She walks in and closes the door behind her. "What are we doing here?" She asks.

"Saviors are in Alexandria. Their after me. So I have to hide when they come." I say sitting in the little recliner.

"So why am I here?"

"If they saw you they'd take you and or kill you. Your safer here. Jesus will come for us when they leave."

"(Sigh) ok." she says sitting on the couch.

"You ok?" I ask.

"Yeah I'm fine." She says looking out the window. "Why are they after you?" She asks.

"I don't wanna talk about it." I said choking up a little.

"You can tell me. Really you can. I know I'm not Jesus but you can talk to me. Just like I can talk to you." She says sincerely.

"Fine. I escaped. Jesus came there and found me. We ran and now they are looking for me. Every time they come I run here and hide." I say looking down.

"Are you scared? That they might find you." She says looking at me.

"A little. I don't wanna be there. It's a living hell."

"Trust me I know." She says looking over at the curtain covered window. "(Sigh) Why?"
She says.

I look at her confused. "Why what?"

"Why are the Saviors there...in Alexandria?" She says with a couple of stray tears.

"They own us. They control us. Rick had to make a tough decision and.."

"We're not fucking.....property! Hmph." She interpreted, putting her head in her hand and shaking it. "Nothing, not even the apocalypse can change people."

"What do ya mean?"

"It's all about power and things! Sometimes I think that god started all this to teach the human race that's it's not about the power and the things. It's about each other. It used to just be us together as one human race. Now it's us and the dead and we still can't learn that we need to freaking work together and not against each other! Sure we all kill, even me. I'd kill Negan if I ever got the chance. But that's because he deserves everything that's coming to him. It'll come back and bite him in the ass one of these days. " she says looking back at me, anger and sadness in her eyes.

"Damn. Never thought about it that way." I say.

"I try to see a deeper meaning." She pauses and a very little smile comes on her face and mixes with her anger and sadness. "That's why I always got in trouble at school. Not because I was bad. In fact, I was about the best one at that damn school. But my thinking. I thought to deep into things and apparently it wasn't what they wanted to hear." She chuckles a little but still not happily.

"I bet Jesus didn't punish you." I smile.

"Nope......because he thinks the same way I do. He always thought I was right. "Theres no need to get in trouble for being right." He would say to me."

We exchange a smile before we stop talking for a long while. She sits there looking at nothing but the window. "Do you think Jesus is ok? You know with the Saviors being there and everything." She says suddenly.

"I'm sure he's fine." I smile.

"Well if your sure than I'm sure."

"You can't base everything off off what I say." I laugh.

"Yes I can. Your smart." She smiles.

I just roll my eyes playfully. Suddenly I saw a shadow move outside and I grabbed my crossbow as she grabbed her knife. The door opened to reveal a blood covered Jesus. I dropped my crossbow. "Jesus!" I say hugging him.

I looked into his tear filled eyes. "What's wrong? Why are you covered in blood." I asked worriedly.

"It's not good."

"What's not? What the hell happen Jesus?" Maddie says.

"They. (Sigh)." He starts crying some more.

I hold him tight to my chest. "It's ok take your time." I say softly.

It takes a minute but he calms down. "Alright now tell us what happened." I say.

"He killed them."

"Killed who?" Maddie says angrily.

"Abraham and Rosita. And Carl he's.....he's injured. Bad." Jesus says.

Maddie filled with fire and so did I. "This is bull shit!" Maddie says running towards home.

"Maddie wait up!" Jesus and I say running after her.
