Austin was temperamental. He had been constantly fighting his beast the first week and was going crazy. By the second week, it seemed his beast had disappeared. Not a sound was made and a feeling was never sent to him. He felt as if a piece of him died. He didn't even know where he was anymore; didn't even care. He was simply going with the motions. He ate and slept. That was about it. And he constantly thought about Natalie. He thought of her smile and almost begged to hear her laugh. To hear anything. He missed her cheerfulness and even missed getting angry with her. The bickering between them had become an everyday thing. The look she would send his way when he would curse. He didn't talk anymore; there was no one to talk to. The seclusion was killing him. He even found himself going to a nearby town just to hear the noise. He didn't understand how 5 days could have such an impact on someone's life. How it could turn someone's life completely around. It made him see what he never realized he wanted. And at that moment. He wanted Natalie.

*************

Something wasn't right. His beast that had disappeared had suddenly resurfaced ten-fold. For two hours, he had been having trouble keeping him under control. This felt different then the first week though. Then he could feel the creatures pain and the want and need to see her. This was different. He felt freaked out. Scared.

He looked around the house hating himself for resorting to coming back here when he said he wouldn't. The house was filled with Natalie. He walked into the room she had stayed in and sat down on the bed. He had slept more in this bed then he had his own.

He felt his beast try to claw through and got closer than ever in succeeding. He tried to think of all the times he had been this way. Natalie. It was always Natalie. The beast growled confirming his suspicion. He felt fear shoot through him and knew he had to check on her. If he didn't, he knew his beast would gain control and find her himself. He wasn't going to let that happen when he was curious himself. He wanted to see her too.

It took an hour to fly there instead of the hour and a half because he was in a hurry. He felt as if he was losing time. He saw lights flashing blue and red as he started to drive closer. Something was really wrong. He silently landed on a tree close by. The place was swarmed with caution tape and officers. What had happened? Was he too late? He listened hard to try and pick up any conversation.

"Any leads yet?" An older voice asked.

"I just got off the phone with her mother. She had plans to take a vacation of some sort, said she needed time to herself and not to worry about her." He recognized the officer that Natalie had talked to on her first day back. The same one who tried to comfort her. He zeroed in on his badge.

"Looks like she didn't get that far. When did she call her?"

"Only ten minutes before the 911 call." Officer Banks replied.

"Found something!" A woman's voice yelled from the door.

Officer Banks got to her first. "What is it?"

"Looks like blood. I'll have it sent in."

He watched the officer turn around and kick the ground frustrated. Well, he wasn't the only one. Austin felt like he was going crazy. Who would want to do Natalie harm?

"It's probably hers." The older officer spoke up. "We have a bunch of fingerprints to get checked out too. Her house was trashed, hopefully one of them is the kidnapper. The 911 dispatcher heard a male voice speak to her. Said she heard him say, 'I wouldn't do that if I were you.' Then the call cut out."

He growled to himself. No one was allowed to hurt her besides him. She was his! At that moment, he felt the beast rise. He didn't fight him. Austin cared for her more than he realized and his beast cared more than he did. His beast would find her. He sighed as everything went black.
