"But I got you this rose and I need to know... would you let it die or let it grow?"

I just finished giving a customer his change when I take a look at the clock.

"Isabelle let's go! We're gonna be late!" I shout into the kitchen.

Isabelle takes off her apron and gives mom a kiss on the cheek. I blow her a kiss and pick my backpack from one of the counters. We head out the door and get in my car.

"So, do you have any crush on someone?" I said with a smirk.

I think I am the most annoying sister when it comes to that topic. One time, Isa told me that she had a crush on this boy in camp and I gave him a letter tellings him Isabelle had feelings for him and I signed it as if I was her. The next day, I found out he had a girlfriend and he told Isabelle he didn't feel the same way and she was so confused so I had to tell her.

I have never had a crush on someone from school so I just know what a crush is and how they act from movies and shows. All the boys in my school are stupid, ugly, or players and I don't want any of those.

"There is nobody but let's see who's new this  year" she responded, with a wink.

I sometimes don't understand her. One day, she sees a guy who is hot and BOOM, she has a crush on him. What if he is dumb or a player or, I don't know, a psychopath? In my opinion, I need to know him first for me to like him.

"And you? Anyone special?" She asked.

"No and I hope no one has a crush on me this year" I said, rolling my eyes.

"What about Spencer?" She asked.

Oh.... Spencer Hawkins, the classic player. Every girl in the school would love to be with him except one. Guess who?... Me. He goes to parties, flirts with girls and dates them for a week but they are so blinded that he doesn't care. He was in 12th grade and I think he managed to date every girl in that grade but between November and December of last year, he started to flirt with me the rest of the year.

He flirted with me during recess, brought me chocolates every Friday, and even wrote me a letter once but don't be fooled. He has tried to get me drunk and has tried to kiss me on the lips out of nowhere. Sometimes he's sweet but sometimes he just doesn't understand I don't like him.

"Spencer and I will never be together" I said firmly.

"Never say never!" She said with a grin. I hate her.

We finally reach school and I park the car close to the entrance. We get out and pick up our backpacks.

"See ya at... 3:30 after school or I'll leave without you" I said, checking my watch.

"You wouldn't dare"

"Watch me" I said and walked into hell.

I walk directly to my locker, making no eye contact with anyone, and opening it. I take out my morning book and head to my first class, Math. When I was about to enter, I felt someone tap my shoulder. I turn around to see-

"Spencer?!" I said, shocked.

What the heck is he doing here? Isn't he supposed to be at a university? Wait, forget I said that, he is too dumb to enter one.

"Babe! I missed you all summer" he said, taking his hand from behind his back, showing me a red rose.

"First, don't ever call me babe and second, what are you doing here?" I said. He grabbed my wrist, making me grab the rose, as he smiles.

"Well, you were right about something last year sweetie. I am stupid and because of that I stayed in the same grade" he said as if what he said was okay but it clearly isn't, for me.

"Well that's great" I said sarcastically.

I can't stand another year of all that and the worst is that he will only flirt with me ALL YEAR! I think I am gonna die.

"See ya at lunch?" he said and I nod since I have no other choice.

I quickly enter the classroom and sit down in one of the chairs in the middle. Thank God he doesn't take this class with me, I wouldn't stand him goofing around.

Suddenly, the bell rings and my math teacher stands up from her desk holding a paper.

"Good morning class! I am Mrs. Carter and I will be you homeroom teacher. I am gonna pass attendance now" she said, smiling.

I think she's new because she looks too happy to be with us. In a week, she will be begging to change.

"Karen Archer?... TadArmstrong?..." the teacher said and went on and on until I heard a familiar name.

"Emma Miller?... Shawn Mendes...Luna Moore.." she said. I raised my hand, confused. Isn't that the guy that gave me his phone number? It can't be, it's too much of a coincidence.

Then, a guy comes running in, and puts his hands on his knees, catching his breath.

"Are you Shawn... Mendes?" the teacher asked checking the list.

"Yeah, I'm new" he said, finally looking up from the floor.

His beautiful coffee brown eyes were laid on me. He looked into my brown eyes and I into his. I felt like there was nobody else in the room, like it was just the two of us.

Until my best friend named Charlotte Brown barged into the classroom like he did.

"What's your name sweetie?"

"My name is Charlotte, and don't ever call me sweetie" she said back, all sassy like she normally is.

She waved at me, I waved back, and she sat in the back since they were no other seats available close to me. Shawn walked over through the row I was in and whispered something to the guy behind me. The guy, immediately moves out of the chair and sits in the back while Shawn sat in his seat.

"Hey..." Shawn said in a seductive voice.
