For the next couple of days, I didn't talk to Lexi at all. It was hard not to, but I couldn't pretend that everything was okay when it wasn't. And when I thought things couldn't get worse, Jake was nowhere to be found. It was like he disappeared. I was pulling books out of my locker when Jerry pulled up in front of my locker. I closed it and leaned against it. "You still on for tomorrow?" I looked at him, wanting to say no. But, I didn't want him or Dave to know that Lexi and I weren't talking, it would be too much to handle. "Sure" rolling my eyes. "Omg this is going to be great!" he said with a smile. I smiled back. "So is it true?" Jerry said a tone lower. "Is what true?" asking in the same low tone. "You and that new kid, there's been some rumors going around," he said with a serious tone that he rarely ever uses. "Really?" I said a bit surprised. "Don't worry," he said in almost a panic, placing his hands in front of him almost telling me to stop. "It not like everybody knows, just a couple of kids. But, don't worry, I started shutting it down." I sighed in relief, closing my eyes, I opened them to see that Jerry was there waiting for an answer. I half heartedly told him that we're just partners for a project. He looked at me and sighed in relief. I hated the fact that I had to lie to him, he wasn't a bad friend, but it I had to for the sake of the fact that he didn't like those type of people either.
