As my dad disappeared into the distance, I looked over to Jake who seemed terrified. I motioned him to get out of there and we both headed up the stairs and into my bedroom. Jake closed the door as I opened the window and let in the fresh cool air into the room. I was still out of breath from the whole incidence as I turned over to Jake who still looked even more distressed and had a face that resembled anger. I went over to him and tried to comfort him as I felt his skin that was blazing hot. I pulled away quickly looking at him, "Omg! Your boiling. Are you having a fever?" as I was trying to touch his cheek. He grabbed my hand and pulled it down, "It's okay. I'll be fine." he said in a calm voice. "No your not, you need to get to the hospital...." he stopped me and said very slowly, "It's normal, it runs in the family." I looked at him and he nodded his head in assurance. "Are you sure?" I asked once more. He smiled and said, "My dad gets it all the time." I smiled and began to think about Jake's family again. I would have loved to meet them and know who he was as a kid and if he had any brothers or sisters. I laughed at the idea of naked baby pictures his mom would pull out. Jake seemed to catch me laughing and I looked at him gaining the nerve to ask him about his family. "Why don't you ever talk about your family?" I asked. He didn't say anything. "C'mon they can't be that bad, compared to my parents." I said nudging him a little. He was still silent and I saw that his face went white. I grabbed his hand and he turned to look at me and whispered, "When you're ready." I nodded and wondered what that actually meant.
