I didn't see Jake again till the Friday before winter break. It was after school and he was hanging around the fence like he usually does with his friends. The air was cold and the sky was dark. There was to be an expected snow storm in the coming hours and everybody seemed to be in a rush to get home. I looked at him debating whether or not to confront him. To know the real answer and put an end to this stupid idea. My phone buzzed taking me out of my train of thought. I looked down and saw that it was a text from Jerry, "There's a small snow party tonight at 9. Please come." My mind stirred thinking about a party that seemed so irrelevant to me at the moment. As I was about about to text back Jerry, declining his offer, I heard someone approach me. I pulled my phone back and looked up to see that Jake was standing in front of me. I looked at him paralyzed from the waist down. For some reason I couldn't move and staring at Jake made me feel pain that I couldn't bear, but also the anger that raged inside of me.
