I was woken with a loud bang on the door.
"Wake up!" Aaron Burr's voice rang form outside the door.
"There's no time to be waisted, we have a lot to do today." He warned.
I jumped out of bed, getting my clothes on and combing my hair back into a ponytail. I tripped out the door and made my way down the stairs where Aaron Burr was waiting. He looked at me with a impatient glance.
"Ready?" He huffed.
I nodded.
"Yes sir." I replied.
We walked outside the sun shone down brightly. The streets were bustling with people and carts rolled down the cobblestone street.
"It's a stressful time here in New York." Burr said looking at the people passing by.
"Even after the war, our country still lives in uncertainty of what will become of this small nation."
I nodded slowly as I followed his gaze down the street. We walked in silence as we came to the market place.
"Ezio, I want you to get something for me." Burr said.
"Here's a list and some money, come back here when you're down." He said handing me a piece of paper.
I nodded as I walked into the swarm of people. I read what was on my list. Raw meat, carrots and three loafs of bread. I found my way to every concession stand and bought everything on my list. With hands full I walked back to where Burr was standing. He was taking to someone as I approached the two men slowly.
" Alexander I want you to meet someone." Burr said as he turned to me.
I looked at Alexander, nodding politely.
" This is Ezio Auditore my apprentice." Burr explained.
"Sir." I greeted.
Alexander smiled as he bowed.
"Alexander Hamilton, a pleasure to meet you." He announced.
There was a moment of silence before they continued with their conversation.
" So Alexander, will you commit to the tax fund?" Burr began.
Alexander looked down, a concern look on his face.
"If it helps congress get through state debt then I will." Alexander said in a hasten tone.
"Thank you my friend." Burr hissed as Alexander gave him a paper.
Burr turned to me.
" Let's go." Burr said gruffly.
I nodded looking back at Hamilton who had a upset look on his face. He glanced at me as I gave him a apologetic look. He gave me a quick smile before he turned away.
"Ezio!" Burr hissed.
I turned following Burr down the street.
" What am I going to do with that poor bastard Alexander Hamilton." Burr sighed.
I looked over a Burr shrugging.
" He seems like a man with word and confidence." I remarked.
Burr looked over at me with a brow raised.
"I'm mean I'm not saying you don't have those abilities too sir." I said quickly bitting my tongue.
Burr shook his head with a sigh.
" He's also a loud mouth, he speaks before he thinks." Burr hissed.
" I'm not surprised he's not shot down by congress by now."
I lowered my eyes to the cobblestone street.
" I see." I murmured.
Burr looked at me, stopping.
" Ezio, it's my job to teach you as much knowledge about the political and civil laws that I can comprehend." Burr said placing his hang on my shoulder.
" I want to make your father proud." He added.
"Gracie." I murmured with a smile.
We pondered the streets for hours walking up and down every street we could walk upon. Burr pointed out different areas in the city the showed importance. Explaining their cause and a little history about the places. The sun was now setting across the city. We finally dragged out feet back to Burr's residence.
Burr walked into the kitchen, a little girl stopped him at the door.
"Daddy!" She laughed as she hugged Burr.
Burr lifted her up and twirled her around catching her in his arms as they were drowned in their own laughter. I smiled as I saw the girl make eye contact with me.
" Hello sir." She said with a curtsy.
"Madam." I said with a bow.
" Oh Theodoisa, this is my apprentice.." Burr began.
" Ezio Auditore." I greeted softly taking her hand an kissing her knuckles.
" Thedosia Burr." She said her face blushing.
" A pleasure to make your acquaintance." I said with a smile.
"Theodoisa sweetie, would you mind getting my study ready?" Burr intervened.
" Yes father." Theodoisa said as she hurried out of sight.
Burr looked at me.
" Thank you for accompanying me today, you have the rest of the night off." He said.
" Thank you sir." I said with a smile.
I walked up a few steps of the stairs before Burr called my name.
" Ezio." Burr said.
" Sir?" I asked turning around.
Burr tossed pouch of coins at me.
" Use this money wisely, its mouthy profit so you'll only get it once a month." Burr warned.
I looked at the pouch, estimating how much it held.
"Gracie." I said.
I turned walking up the stairs and down the hall to my room. Closing the door I sighed. I lit the candle that was on my desk. I sat down, rummaging through the drawers, pulling out a feather pen, ink and paper as I began to write."Dear Uncle,
The date is May 16 1795
I hope this letter finds you in good heath and in high expectations. I have settled down in this vast foreign country and have taken quite an interest to it already. My new mentor Aaron Burr has a sullen tone but sense the past two days in his presence he as taught me a lot. A apologize if I hasten this letter short. I am very exhausted and a long day is expected for me tomorrow. I am still learning the function of this nation's laws and hope to become a more prominent and respected subject here as the years pass.
Tuo Nipote, Ezio Auditore."I read the paper over. Cursing myself for my sloppy hand. I folded the letter and waxed it shut. I sighed a moment of emptiness swept through me. I got up and blew out the candle. I laid I darkness as another sleepless night tore away at my body.
